I still hold my original position on the QB sit.

I find it very sad that the LSU coaching staff played the QB sit. as they did. What is painfully obvious is that CLM or GC, whichever, intended all along to keep Jefferson as the QB ... and the "2 QB system" was only a way to buy a little time for Jefferson to perk up, ... at Jarret Lee's expense.

Well ... yesterday saw the fruits of that misplaced faith. Jefferson is still just as inefficient and inconsistent as he's been all year. Funny though .. Lee, who I contend to still be the better passer, didn't see any play to speak of at all.

The FACT is ... a running QB, unless he is a superstar like Newton, adds very little. IN FACT ... the thing that makes Newton exceptional is that he is a fine passer as well. He beat Bama with his arm, not his feet. Jefferson is neither a great runner, nor even a compent passer. AND .. I still hold my position, that Jefferson in the game hurts the running game of Ridley and Ford by robbing them of carries.

As for Lee .. it's almost as the Coaches set him up to fail. Lee is a down field pass threat .. an 8-10 yard type of passer, and he can throw the deep ball .... yet all they know to run is that stupid WR screen. It seemed the Coaching Staff was only up to giving him one chance these last two games. OTOH .. Jefferson could three and out all he would like .... "gambling" fits the scenario perfectly ... CLM kept gambling that Jefferson would perk up .. but .. he lost his bet yesterday. Jefferson Sucked.

I think Jarret Lee should transfer to a smaller college, get some experience and pursue his own interests. It's obvious that LSU is not going to give him that "second chance" they keep giving Jefferson.

    End of Rant.

[Post Edit .... don't expect great things next year either if they keep Jefferson as the starting QB. He will have his bright moments .. but he will still be as inconsistent as he's been all this year]

Lee was junk the last 3-4 ball games and I actually cringed when he came into the game yesterday and wondered why we squandered a possession like that. He couldn't even throw something as simple as a quick screen to Shepard.

We have an extreme deficiency at QB heading into 2011 and it appears that neither of those 2 QBs could lead this team to an SEC championship.

We have to pray Mettzenberger is the real deal and that Les Miles plays the most deserving guy at QB.

Neither QB was getting the job done on a consistent basis. A running QB or one that can run can add a lot to an offense. However JJ does not know when to run and is clueless on running an option play. Miles did a poor job shuffling QB's. I don't think Lee was the answer, but we will never know because he wasn't allowed to play a complete game, just a series here and there. It's Mettenberger or bust at the QB position next year. Playing JJ is like playing million dollar Russian roulette, very high risk semi high reward. Problem is for every Alabama game you get 3 clunkers. We are still in very poor position at QB and we are depending on someone that hasn't signed to be the savior.

anyone who thought lee was the better option in any game after the florida game has either not been watching, or has something personal against jj.

starting somewhere around halftime of Vandy or Miss St, i wanted to see what Lee could do, because JJ wasn't getting it done.

We got to see it, and Lee performed well enough vs. Tennessee and Florida that I thought he may be the guy we needed.

However, JJ has out performed him in every single game since then.

Lee brought ZERO to the table against Auburn, Bama, Ole Miss, and Arky.

All this is coming from someone who continued to defend Lee well after most gave up on him in '08.

I like his style and attitude. He has a quick release and throws a pretty deep ball.
But the fact is, he thinks like Brett Favre out there, throwing off back foot, into double and triple coverage, etc. And just like every qb not named Favre, it burns him more often than it helps him.

I don't know if I have ever seen a QB like Jefferson who has absolutely no pocket awareness.

I was joking with my friend telling him it's like someone who can't walk and chew gum at the same time, Jefferson has to focus so much of his mental capabilities on the receivers running routes and reading the defense that he is simply oblivious to what is happening around him in the pocket.

In evaluating the coaching staff we're left with mixed feelings of giving a ton of credit for getting to 10-2 with the way the QB situation panned out, whilst placing extreme blame on that same coaching staff for not being able to coach up the QB position any better than we have.

Very very very true. Probably the worst I've ever seen also. He was much better in the hurry up when he was given less time to confuse himself.

Tiger fans must hope that Zach Mettenberger comes to LSU next year and wins the starting QB job.

Jefferson and Lee won't get fans excited. And with Nevis, Sheppard, and Peterson leaving for the NFL, the defense will take a step back.

LSU's offense will have to put up points consistently. Without consistent QB play, and perhaps a new offensive coordinator, that won't happen.

I don't see the defense taking a step back. There is tons of young talent, many of them played this year. QB and OC are major hurdles we have to replace or overcome.
