Well, if our offense hadn't have choked I think we would have won last night, maybe convincingly. Their O only got going when our D was exhausted. We could have contained their freshman QB with a little help from offense. Not that Bama is chopped liver; they're more talented top to bottom (but it's close).
Won't argue that, and at this time they are the better team (and have been since NC 2012). But we closed the gap last night IMO.
Last night was a very disappointing loss, our power I offense just doesn't match up well with Bama's dominating defense. The offensive woes have been years in the making and I don't blame Coach O that the offense putrid once again. Whoever the coach is next year will need to perform a total overhaul. The next staff will have to figure out how to complete a forward pass against Bama. But at least we looked liked we belonged on the same field, unlike last year. No team has played the gumps tougher than LSU did last night. The D seemed to tire a little in the fourth quarter but played brilliantly all game. When MIles was fired, I was all in for Herman or Fisher but O is slowly winning me over. I don't know if he can have long term success but you really can't argue with what he has done with the team to this point. Last night didn't win him the job but it certainly didn't eliminate him imo. If he can retain Aranda and bring in a top OC, and maintain recruiting, this team can be very, very good for the foreseeable future.
I think it will depend on Arkansas, Florida, and A&M. I think he did enough last night. The Tigers would have had to completely tank last night for him to be out of it and they put up a great fight against the best team in the nation. That being said Ensminger is also one of the guys, an LSU guy, but I don't think he is capable of this role at LSU if we want to beat Alabama with some regularity. We need a young fresh minded offensive coordinator like Major Applewhite to come home. Ensminger was allowed to do his job and he failed last night. They say they didn't execute which is fair but no favors were done to Danny and Leonard. Also Jeff Grimes can pack his shit and leave now. If LSU beats the next 3 opponents convincingly O is your coach. Only a moron like taint thinks they know what you have with O and the truth is none of us really know what we will get with him and a full off season and him installing his coaches and his recruits, which still may take a few years. Hanagriff said it right though, Nick Saban is winning this game in February. We have to get beasts on the O line and D line and a lot of them for a great rotation. We wouldn't see a mass exodus of players transferring either with O at the helm.
