Yeah, but his high school coaches had to have known what was up, and with all the scouting personnel LSU has, they can't find that out? I remember someone saying he was kicked out of one high school and had to attend another. Not sure if that is correct.
Understatement of the century. Perrilloux is ultimately a major reason we are in this situation now. But don't forget the fact that it was Saban who missed out on recruiting a QB those years. He's the reason we have no QB this year. Miles came in and the first thing he did was pull the #1 player in the country. Looking back, it was a bad move, but at the time it was a great decision. Miles saw there was a lack at the QB position and he went out there and got it. Not only that but look at what he's done recruiting QB's. '06 RP. '07 JLee. '08 JJ. '09 RShep and CGarrett. He's definitely spotted a need position and tried his best to fill it. Just, his first attempt failed horribly. Now it's just going to take time for Miles other recruits to develop / get here and be effective.
When Saban left we had two top QB's that were going to be sophomores and we signed RP. What are you talking about?
Oh just wanted to point out, I seem to remember that McCoy and RP were both committed to Texas at the same time. I don't know where you read that McCoy would have come here, but I was under the impression (at least at the time) that McCoy was all Texas. Possibly someone who followed recruiting more closes can chime in on this one. Also, fwiw, RP's HS Coach said RP was never a problem in HS. That could just be coach speech but, that's all we've got on the situation.
RP was committed to Texas when Saban left. It wasn't until Miles came that RP switched to LSU. That would have been another blank year at the QB spot had Saban stayed. So now we're talking about 2 JUNIOR QB's when he would have picked up a QB. That's certainly taking a Risk to have 2 SR QB's and a RS Freshman with nothing inbetween.
Well Saban has mentioned that RP was a silent to him and even if you dont believe that or that isnt true I doubt we would have gone without signing a QB...probably wasnt RP or bust. Regardless, Miles has had plenty of time to bring in a non Harvard QB.
I don't know if RP was a silent or not, I certainly won't be taking Saban's "word" on the issue and since RP was committed to Texas at the time of NS leaving, well. . .I'll go with the view I have. I'll just go ahead and copy and paste my statement from above. The QB recruits Miles got: '06 RP. '07 JLee. '08 JJ. '09 RShep and CGarrett. The problem was, no one was picked up in '05 and '06 RP was a bust. Those 2 issues can only fall at the feet of 2 people. RP for being a bust, and NS for not having recruited the QB position well. Compared to that, Miles is light years ahead as far as the QB position goes.
Saban left Miles three years worth of quality QB's. How you can say that falls on Saban is ridiculous. Miles did not sign a QB in '06 and signed just one in '07. That is one man's fault, and he is our coach.
Saban left us with national championship type talent and you are griping because he didn't leave us with another JR or Flynn three years after he left? Surely you will acknowledge that Miles knew RP was a risk shortly after he came on campus. Why didn't he put more emphasis on more quarterback recruits?
What? How do you figure? Saban has nothing to do with our QB depth at all. You have made good posts in this topic but you are WAY, WAY off base on this one.
