I think we need an impact OLB.

Someone who can dominate in the pass rush to replace Fujita. Fujita is serviceable but his best years are behind him now.

You couple that with Smith on the other side and our corners covering the outside receivers and you got a really potent QB pressuring defense (much more so than we have now).

DT more than DE. We get hurt more against the run. We need a run stuffer to help Ellis out.

how old is fujita? maybe he is past his prime. i thought he was pretty young.

also is it guaranteed now greg williams is a lock to be a head coach somewhere next year?

    that would be brutal.

Well, the great thing about this off-season is that once we lock up our own FA's, we can really concentrate on upgrading the talent on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, consider this....we will upgrade considerably without doing a thing, because a Pro Bowl-calibre tackle (Jamal Brown), an upper echelon fullback (Heath Evans) and a quality pass catching tight end (Billy Miller) all return from the disabled list.

Shanle does make plays, i will give him that but he gets burned alot too, and i saw him miss a lot of tackles in the post season. I wouldn't mind having those 2 (shanle and fujita) groom some young OLB's, but they play almost every down. I agree with you on harper, and it would be nice to see Peppers in Black and Gold instead of on top of Black and Gold.

We could use help at outside lb, ss and probably defensive end but I think the biggest need is a defensive tackle to go along side ellis.

here's a question, since alot of people think safety is a need, harper not that great, sharper is unrestricted and not getting younger, if chad jones is still around in round 2 or 3 even, should they take a chance on him? Or do you think he will fall further in the draft?

i cant see chad jones coming in and making an immediate impact anywhere. He was one my favorites at lsu but i think another year could have made his draft stock soar! Some mockdrafts dont have him until the 3rd or 4th rounds.

    my
thinking is lock up sharper for the rest of his career, and draft a guy that sharper can take under his wing, rarely do any defensive backs make immediate impacts in the nfl, so you really cant expect that anyway. The question is, does he have the potential to become a starter in his third or fourth season, and where would you take him in the draft.

Julius Peppers will be a free agent. He could definately improve the pass rush
