If ha can't hit a wide open receiver 5 yards down the field what makes you think he will be more accurate 25 yard down the field? Lee has made a few great down field passes, but more often than not he simply throws it up for grabs. He came very close to having a couple more interceptions saturday. He is late going through his progressions and throws the ball very late on the deep route. That's typical of a young inexperienced QB and should improve with time. However if the staff simply lets him fling it on every down your going to see a ton more turn overs. Let him prove he can hit the 5 yard slant and then maybe they will be more comfortable loosening the reins.
i knew we were in trouble when......... Rickey Jean Francois left the game vs. Mississippi State. we couldnt stop mississippi state from scoring on us.
First of all nobody said he should "fling it on every down". To open the run and get 8 out of the box you at least have to threaten the long ball, when your Oline isn't dominant, which was very apparant early. Lee seems to have trouble timing and leading short passes but has looked better on the long ball. On a long pass with the talent at receiver you at least give them a chance to adjust and make the play. If you turn the ball over at least its 30 yds down feild instead of in your own freakin backfeild for a pic6. I know he's young and I expect mistakes, I just would have rather seen them take some shots early and keep the D honest.:thumb:
Truer words were never written. That's the only real bright spot we can take away from the last game. That huge "THUD" we all heard Saturday night was a result of the Tigers' collective egos crashing back to reality. They're good. But they still have to give it all. Every Play. Every Saturday. :geaux:
Game of emotion. McCray comes close to knocking down a 3rd down pass that turns into six. RJF's comments probably werwen't as big a factor but I'm sure it caused Florida's O-line to be a little more focused and determined. Key third and three conversion by Tebow in the second half, kept touchdown answering scoring drive alive in the second half after LSU had cut the lead to six. Defense was determined to stop the run and that probably had alot to do with last years failure to stop those short 4th down runs in Baton Rouge. Loss to Ole Miss simply means margin of error is slim. This game should stir some emotion out of the Tigers. A close score loss would have hurt but a drubbing should serve as a slap in the face to a competitve team. They better realize there are other teams who can and will slap them if they get the chance. UGA has already been slapped by Alabama and you know the Tide will be wanting to do the same to the Tigers in death valley as they did the Dawgs between the headges. Teams are going to focus on stopping your running game and try to make Lee beat them. He beat Auburn but the running game was never shut down and they were able to remain balanced. Florida only capitalized off one of your turnovers. The other two hurt more because you were moving the ball.
Good post, UF. And you're right on a lot of points. UGA got rolled by Tennessee last year and rebounded as a team with a vengeance. I'll be very curious to see how this LSU team will respond through the next half of the season.
when McCray, who had no business covering Harvin one on one, actually did a great job, only to barely miss-time his leap and we gave up a 70 yard TD instead of being a 3 and out and getting LSU off to the start we needed I have never witnessed a play that early in the game have that much of an impact on the psyche of the other team.
