I agree that the anti-Miles people are outnumbering the pro-Miles people on this board now, and on other LSU message boards, blogs, etc. I've been in the pro-Miles camp and I stayed away from this board for several weeks during this football season due to the overall negativity, and quite frankly, the hostility that was displayed toward pro-Miles folks.

There's a lot of debate on multiple threads here, and elsewhere, as to what the future of LSU football holds. I don't think Miles is on the hot seat yet, but I would suspect another season like this one will put him on the hot seat. To a certain extent, I think we need to chill a little bit about 2014 given all the players lost to the NFL recently, and youth that had to grow up quickly. That said, I do think that Miles has mishandled the QB situation, and is something that MUST be fixed immediately. I think he realizes this, and will do what is necessary, stubborn or not.

Miles has beaten Saban 3 times. Since Saban went to Bama, no coach in college football has beaten him more often than Miles.

Chavis is following the money to A&M. Miles isn't chasing him away. Coaches change jobs every year, and recruits often base their decisions on those moves. If a recruit or three switches from LSU to A&M based on this, it would hardly be an earth-shattering development. And we have no idea who Chavis' replacement might be. If its Pendergast, maybe some west coast prospects give us a look that we wouldn't have gotten before.

since when have i been hostile. you know how you told red not to assume you were attacking him. dont assume I was being hostile. i was making an observation and asked a question. you tend to ask questions without ever having a say on the subject and some value your opinion.

and likely no ones played him more either.

i hate liking a guy pendergast without knowing shit about him. but he has a good resume'. orgeron would be a better fit but hes a loose cannon and les would never hire a guy like that. but this team could use a personality and a little life from the coaching staff.

That could still mean a 9 or 10 win season. The rent a win padding stats are perfectly acceptable to some people.

The reason I drew the line at 5-3 next year in the SEC is because we really have an easy nonconference schedule in 2015, and those 4 wins should be automatic. CLM could go 9-3 next year in the regular season with a 5-3 record in the SEC (63% winning record in SEC). At 5-3 we are playing again in Nashville, Memphis, or some other second tear bowl. Even if CLM finishes 10-2 in the regular season in 2015, that probably puts us at 6-2 in the SEC which might get us to the Peach Bowl.

Sorry I misread you. I don't think that my opinion is fully formed yet, other than to say that I don't think that Coach Miles will be on the hotseat after next year, because LSU will either improve or stay the same as this year. I have no idea what recruiting will turn out to be, but, it's never been a problem with Miles, so, we can't expect that it will be a problem.

True, but the important point is, saying Miles can't beat Saban is absurd.

At this point, the resume is all we have on any of these guys, other than Orgeron. That's why I'm intrigued by Kevin Steele. In comparison, Pendergast has experience as a coordinator, while Steele has always been a position coach. He's also worked with Miles (with the Cowboys); Steele hasn't. In Steele's favor, he's been a college coach most of his career; Pendergast is mostly an NFL guy. I'm also looking at coaching philosophies. I don't know anything about Pendergast's approach. But I wouldn't mind seeing Steele bring us some of Saban's defensive mindset. He also spent four years with the Carolina Panthers, and they've always been very aggressive on D.

OK, @lsufan52 I'm not singling you out here, but you're expressing a belief that so many have repeated here, and I'm sick of it.

We are in the second year of the Head Coach Miles/Offensive Coordinator Cameron tenure. Why do so many people assume what we saw this year is the offense these guys want? We had one of the best offenses in the nation last year, but we had veterans all over the field and NFL calibre talent at the skill positions. That's the offense Les and Cam want to run! Harris isn't sitting because he can't hand off. He's sitting because he's not ready to run the playbook that was on display in 2013.

The problem is not that we have a bad offensive playbook. The problem is that Miles has a bad philosophy for dealing with failure. Bama started the season in the same QB predicament as we did. But Saban scaled down his offense and found things his guy can do successfully, within his philosophy of attacking the defense. Miles' reaction to Jennings' failures was to play it safe and abandon the pass game.
