For everyone pointing to this game/season saying that Les can't win unless he has Saban's players, I hope that you do of course realize that in his final season, Saban lost in this exact same game with his players. I don't remember many people calling for his head at the time though. I'm glad that we are at a point in LSU football where we are not satisfied with less than perfection, but there are very few available coaches that could give this team as good of a chance to win as Les does. Firing him now would only put us back in recruiting, and offset the groundwork we have layed to give this team a chance at a title. Now Crowton is another story. Guy has got to go.
wrong scenario... Better scenario... you are an all-star coming out of middle school... You run a 4.4 in 9th grade. Even though you are a tall lanky guy who has no chance to play RB in college, the coach plays you there because thats what he wants and he is a ****ty coach. You play four years at RB, then get recruited as a WR. You go to college, can't catch worth a ****, and don't do much beyond college, dispite your natural talents. Happened to a guy I played with named Leonard Scott. Played for Tenn but couldnt catch worth a damn. All of his teammates wondered each year why he wasn't playing WR. It was because his coach sucked and didn't develop him as a player like he should have... Yeah.. You can have a bad game every now and then... there are guys at LSU that are having bad careers... one or two is normal, but the lack of development at LSU goes well beyond the norm.
Lee, Hitt, Barksdale, Toliver, Jefferson, Woods, Levingston, Alem, Cutrera, Eugene, C. Mitchell, Hawkins, McCray... to name a few...
Then there is the real SEC record which is 28-14 & overall record of 51-15. Plus 5 highly rated recruits already committed to LSU for the 2011 season. Damn right it matters.
Lee should never have started when he did. Sure we lost RP, but we should have had other QBs recruiting in that 3-year span when we only took one QB in RP, and that's on the coaches. But they are taking a QB every year now. Toliver and JJ have done as well as expected. Cutrera... don't think anybody thought he'd be great.... it's impressive he is starting. Haven't the rest been doing better than expected as well... or at least living up to expectations? Ya, Woods didn't live up to the 5-star hype, but that happens in every program. And we did fire our entire defensive coaching staff last year and replaced them with outstanding replacements... and have now fired the WR coach and OL coach, right?
My Gator friends have been saying for years that Les is just our Ron Zook, and so far they've been absolutely right. Yet another piss poor coaching performance, on both sides of the ball. To be fair, my only real defensive complaint is our consistent lack of pressure on obvious throwing situations. :rolleye33:
If Zook was like Miles, then why didn't he win a national title with all those sick Spurrier recruits? Get real. If Miles was a Zook, he'd be gone. You do realize Zook was 8-5, 8-5, 7-4 at Florida and that Miles was 11-2, 11-2, 11-2, 8-5, 9-4 at LSU, right?
