At least Miles won a NC. But dale brown built something from nothing, miles inherited a pretty good gig.
The problem with that team was that they could beat anybody who would run and gun with them. 148-141 over Loyola, LA - 125-124 over UNLV. But when they played a team like Kansas with a slow deliberate offense they couldn't find a way to win
To be clear, of the 22 starters on the 2007 LSU team, 15 were recruited by Saban. So, yes, while Smiles actually gets the credit for the win, it's hard to ignore the fact that he did it with 68% of someone else's recruits. And let's not mention how well he didn't do a few years later in the first NC he coached with ALL of HIS recruits.
Even I think this is tired. Good grief, I don't like him but I'm not willing to take things away from him.
Are you referring to the team that went 12-0 in the regular season, won the SECCG by 32 points, and beat 8 ranked opponents by an average of 22 points, before getting stuck in an undeserved rematch against a team that held all the intangibles going in? Yeah, they were pretty bad.
