and he answered! he assured me that the tigers are indeed looking at Derek Pegues. I hope we land him for cornerback. Do we need a CB in the next couple years? Here is my post from another thread: I asked on another thread what happened to west Monroe this year? They are normally way up in the national rankings. South Panola Tigers ( ranked 9th nationally ) are leading 14-3 playing Madison Central starting the 3rd Qtr. This game is closer than it sounds, madison central came to play! They seem to have a really good defense! I hope SP Tigers can hold them off and win a back to back State 5A title. second play of SP's opening drive, Derrick went 69 yards from scrimmage to score, reminded me of JV's run agaisnt OU. 2nd play-off game of the MS state 5A championship. Our old coach " coach Stanley is doing well at meridian High. 9-1-1 a couple of players @ South panola have said they'd like to attend LSU. Some stats: 1289 yards Derrick " smoke" Pegues 102 pts this yr. he plays QB but he also plays DB wich is where he loves to play, kid loves to hit. he has bama listed but LSu is close and he hasn't commited yet. Derek Pegues VOL's recruit Pegues At least LSU is on the short List NO NOT MICHIGAN! I would think Saban would be all over this boy! Dahm War chickens tryin' to steal a Tiger! 1082 yards Ja Micheal Sanford 126 pts Tigers are averering 39 points a game on offensive while giving up a little over 9 points a game. you can hear the game HERE Click the Football South Panola
I noticed out of the top DB's for 2005 he is the highest that we are on the short list. How deep are we at CB? rivals DB's
Here's a little info for ya JS: Derek Pegues 5-10 175lbs We already have one CB committment in Chris Hawkins and LSU went after him hard early and he committed very early in the process. We will probably take 2 or 3 CB's in this class according to the people in the know. Hawkins is only rated a 3 star while Pegues is a 4 star, however Saban must like Hawkins one hell of a lot. hawkins is kind of a bof CB and could be moved to safety at 6-1 185 lbs. This is the CB LSU is after then most: Bryan Evans Ht: 5-11 Wt: 177 40: 4.45 Position: CB, RB Projected as: CB Position Rank: 5 Class: 2005 Senior High School: Edward H. White HS (Jacksonville, FL) Rated as the 5th best cornerback in the country by Insiders' Here's another player that LSU would love but he gave a soft verbal to GA Tech a while back. He is an incedible athlete and hit 627 in baseball alst year and Saban loves guys that play baseball. Carlos Thomas, an athlete that could play wide receiver or defensive back on the next level committed to The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets a little over a month ago. Even with that commitment, Thomas still plans to take five official visits. Who will he visit and how solid is he to the Jackets? Carlos Thomas 4 Star Ht: 5-11 Wt: 170 40: 4.4 Position: WR, CB Projected as: CB, WR Position Rank: 10 Class: 2005 Senior High School: Banneker HS (College Park, GA) It will be hard to get him as we have never done real well in Georgia for some reason. Saban has gone after several players from there in the past couple of years and hasn't gotten any of them.
If we could get one CB that would be awesome considering we'll have Ronnie Prude next year and Chevis Jackson and Sammy Joseph to play 3 more years. We have a lot of safeties coming in, think any of them have the ability to play corner?
nice to have it covered, but Pegues is one of those players you just can't NOT TRY FOR. he is playing QB also at South panola and has over 102 points and 1200 plus yards, this kid covers the field like a blanket of snow. He had a couple of interceptions last night to shut down Madison Central.
