Kajun4LSU - I hear you great point hard to argue with that and just think the more successful all of our athletic programs are the more money the Athletic department will bring in and the more money they will be able to donate for the struggling budget cuts - after all they are student-athletes. :thumb:

Waaaahhh, LSU doesn't spend what other schools spend but I can't publicly admit that LSU gets a much better bang for the recruiting buck or it would go against my vow to whine about Les Miles anytime I post! Waaahhh! Les should waste more money so I can bash him more...waaahhhhh!

This whole thread is based on the premise that spending more money brings more success. That's a fantasy. The Cubs have the 6th highest payroll in baseball; how's that working out. Too many examples to list.

I think our success has been predicated on "jewels in the rough" type philosophy. Our 3 star recruits have paid off for Les. There is so much underrated talent in LA. High Schools such as St. James, Breaux Bridge, and West Monroe produce quality players year in and year out.

Do you really want to see the list of organizations that are spend thrifty and their records, you don't want to go there you will not win that argument based on those statistic's. There are exceptions to all thoughts you can take the Cub's on one hand and the Yankee's on the other. The two highest payroll teams last year were the Yankees and the Phillies look at their success. The bottom 4 payrolls in MLB last Year KC - came in 4th in the central, TB - came in 2nd in the east "made playoffs" SD - came in last in the west and Pitt - came in 3rd "one game ahead of the Cubs" in the central. So spending money doesn't mean you will be successful or competitive and vice versa.

All I was trying to point out was where we were compared to our peers. Our success within our program absolutely proves we are getting the most bang for our buck, no question about it. But you could also make the hypothesis that if we are doing so well only spending the amount of funds that we are spending and correlate that going forward. How much more on the recruiting trail could we accomplish if we did spend more money or inline with our peers. If we did not have the funds to spend than it would be moot, but we have one of the most profitable Athletic Departments in the country, that is fact not fiction. So we obviously have the funds to spend more money on recruiting, why not use those funds to try and see if we can actually do better than what we are already doing.

It is real simple if you are satisfied with your success, you have just taken your first step backwards!!!!!
