I don't know whether to look at this as a positive or negative

Conference Recruiting Expense Series: Top-50 Spenders

LSU is ranked #47 on the list, I realize that we mainly recruit in state so that will definitely keep spending down which is a positive. And you don't need to spend money just to spend money, but the LSU athletic program makes a lot of money come on guys spend a little of it you can't take the money to your graves!!! Compared to the rest of our SEC brethren we definitely are the spend thrifts. Maybe that is our Business school showing them how to run a successful operation, or maybe we are pinching pennies too much. Being fiscally responsible is what I like, but when everyone in the SEC is spending more that concerns me a little, I am probably missing something though.

I don't know that there is any reason for concern. Results count much more and our results speak for themselves. What makes the difference? How does each school spend their money? Answers to those questions would be required to evaluate whether or not we spend enough recruiting.
I think it isn't what we spend but that we do the things needed to recruit and train and school and coach these team to be the best. Results are the true measure.

Auburn will drop when the Cam Newton bubble pops. I see this as a positive. Many of these schools don't have the home-grown talent at its disposal that LSU does.

Good for LSU making the most out of what they spend. My interest is: what is Marquette spending 1.4 million on? The 2+million spenders aren't getting crap.

We usually spend more but one other factor is the NCAA restriction we have on us now with Official Visits. We have had very few compared to past years and usually a pretty big expense. We will never have to spend what the likes of say Bama or Tenn pay because 90% of our budget is focused in-state. We also spend less than most on paying recruiting services given our in-state focus. We can scout most of these guys ourselves and our camps are proof of this. A large majority of our commits each year at least atteneded one of our camps. We put a premium on showing up to camps when invited.

No, it's the constant trying to spin an LSU positive as a negative that gets old. If we were on top of the spending list, the two of you would be complaining about how much money was wasted.

Where is this tendency that is hurting us so badly? Highest winning percentage, ONE loss this year, played in the title game, awesome graduation rate, loyal to LSU (turned Michigan down twice).

Please just go cheer for someone else. Your endless rants against CLM are sophomoric and trivial.
