was only at oregon for 2 years. didn't really watch them, so can only go by the numbers. check out their qb stats though: Oregon SR qb in '05 62% comp, 304 pass ypg, 28 td, 10 int SO qb in '06 59% comp, 241 pass ypg, 18 td, 18 int LSU SR qb in '07 57% comp, 225 pass ypg, 29 td, 13 int FR qb in '06 52% comp, 201 pass ypg, 21 td, 18 int eerily similar. JJ doesn't throw as many picks because he doesn't pull the trigger. go back and compare the '01 season for BYU to their '02 season, and it looks just like the above. with an already developed SR qb, he has success. when he tries to teach this to a youngster, well, we're seeing what you get.
It is absoultely hilarious to see all of those that went so far out on a limb to defend miles figure out that there is now no way to get back to the tree. Just go on and jump boys and girls. There is still room in the boat for the rest of you. You just don't get as good a seat as the ones who saw the light a long time ago.
Sticking with the option...abso-friggin-lutely. You'll say "but Miles says the option works". I'll say Miles SAYS all kinds of things that don't make sense, but it doesn't mean he believes it. Handing the ball to Ridley up the middle picked up a chitload of yds last night, and yes, I think that has Miles' hand all over it. I also BLAME him for not trying JL...especially the chit with the fake QB change. Yes, I think he is mainly a figure head. (figure head is two words, BTW :wink That said, I think if he gets the blame for the offense, he should get the credit for every other single aspect of the team. And yes, in the grand scheme of things, I blame him for the offense. I singled out Crowton because he is the one element that I see that Miles needs to remove. Crowton gets credit for Rattay, but don't even try to give him credit for any other QB. Dixon was NOTHING until after Crowton left. If anything, he was an extremely talented guy that Crowton was inhibiting. And he isn't the only one that's been screwed up by Crowton. I can think of at least 2 that are on LSU's current roster. There are so many BAD option plays now that you and others refuse to see that...SOMETIMES...it actually works. In another thread, a poster said that, since Crowton has been here, he could only remember twice that the option worked. None of them were this season. Well, JJ scored a 16 yd TD on the option play 8 days ago...but people conveniently forget that. But with that said, the option is 100% Crowton's baby. Nootch gave perfect evidence of that. How many times did we run the option in '05-'06? We ran it some in 2007, and both Flynn and Perriloux were successful with it. Perrilloux because he was tailor made for it. Flynn because nobody expected him to be any good at it...and he was pretty good at it. I imagine had Perrilloux not been a dumbarse, and had been at LSU the past two years, none of us would be complaining about the option. It would've been a great play with him running it...considering he most certainly had an arm worthy of respect. But to answer your original question, no, I don't think Miles has anything to do with the option. :nope: I think he has everything to do with Ridley up the middle...and I thank him for that. I think he has everything to do with Lee not getting snaps, and I hold him responsible for that.
Eggsactly. Now hear this. When it looks like I'm blaming Crowton 100%...I'm not. I'm holding Miles responsible for Crowton still being here. Just like I give Miles credit for Chavis being here...and that special teams coach dude...and Frank Wilson...and whatever else good that happens. Miles is the responsible one, and it's up to him to get rid of Crowton. Then it's up to him to get a good replacement. He'll likely do just that at the end of this year. He'll likely have no choice.
Wrong. [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figurehead]Figurehead - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] figurehead - Google Search No, I agree with you, and I remember the TD last week. It does work on rare occasions, and I think those few occasions are what allows whoever the hell is calling the plays to justify its overuse. Overall, it's a terrible play for us. Again, I agree. At first, I was frustrated that we were running it so frequently, as it seems so incredibly predictable, but after seeing the passing game these last several games, I'm glad we've run it as many times as we have. My only fear is that when we do play a legit, worthy SEC defense, our one-dimensional, one-RB plays will be limited. Blue isn't really involved, Shep didn't play much on Saturday, Ford is still nowhere to be found, Murphy is a shell of a player, and if Ridley gets hurt, then what? Ridley, right now IS the offense. Caught me off guard. :hihi:
