...as in starting threads. I tend to make my opinions known in the dozens of others on any number of topics but someone asked me recently why I tend to NOT criticize the coaching staff, particularly Miles. I look at it like this...the glass is half full. Bottom line. I can find things that go well and tend to go with that. Negativity isn't any fun at all so in most things in life I try to look at the bright side. Makes me a happier man. If I'm considered a sunshine pumper so be it. I'm not blind...I can see there are deficiencies in this team...but what team doesn't? Until they lose control of this team (1988-1990 with Archer. He was actually pretty good in 87) the staff runs the team into the ground (91-94 with Hallman) or completely give up on the coach (1999 with Dinardo) I'll support this team and it's staff until the wheels fall off. And they haven't... I see no use in complaining about the things I have no control. Do I scratch my head and wonder what the heck they are thinking? Sure...but at the end of the day it doesn't do me any good to rant and rave about what could have been. I look at what it is and hope things get better and go on with my life. Sports is an enjoyable distraction for me and getting upset over a game played by boys and men isn't going to bother me...until basketball season starts and I watch my son play but that is a different story.
Well Co, just like sex you should "do it" more often, because this is a great post. Great perspective on just what sports is, entertainment. I have been an LSU fan for 47 yrs, only 42 knowingly, and I have had times where we were a major disappointment and I would get very upset. Right now is now that time and I really enjoy being a Tiger fan more than ever in my life. We may not be the #'s best team in all of college football, but we are absolutely the best team, to me. Geaux Tigers, finish hard, finish strong.
Good post. It will interesting to see how the respondents blow torch you. Just kidding - lets keep some humor out there. I highlighted the 'glass' line to explain a theory I've been working on. Lately we've developed a new type of 'glass person' on the board. We know about the 'Half Full' glass people. We know about the 'Half Empty' glass people I propose the 'Glass Is Not Thick Enough' people. Allow me to demonstrate. Picture a trembling lump of purple and gold dressed flesh in the corner screeching; "The Glass is to thin; OH MY GOD The Glass is to thin!!! The pieces . .!! The pieces . . !! I smashed it to the floor but the pieces of glass aren't thick enough to slash my wrist"!!! What am I going to do?? There you have it the 'Glass Is Not Thick Enough' person. Just a thought. I really did enjoy the post. Well done.
I agree.... By the way, is it me or is there not much of a meltdown after the AU game. I haven't been able to read a lot of the posts or threads yet.
Bout time you say something nice about LSU:grin:. By the way your glass is usually half empty so you keep getting up to fill it during commercial breaks!
Rational fans realize that this is a good team, not a great team. We have NO QB so we make do with defense and vanilla offense. On occasion, that's just not going to cut it. I think most knew (and now realize) that we are an 8-4 team with a better than average chance of going 10-2. That's a satisfying year, IMO, but the ones with delusions of grandeur who think this young team has a right to compete for the NC will just have to cool their heels. They will let off steam by blaming coaching but that's only a small part of it. Some of our fans think we are Secretariat when we are actually Sham (if you saw the movie you would understand).
Fantastic thread and original post. Some of the "realists" here should take notes...but they clearly don't. See above.
