I don't blame this on the OL, at least not more than 30%.

Something Jefferson was repeatedly doing last night was snapping the ball in a shotgun....and then retreating a bunch of yards.

Did anyone notice this? Aren't you supposed to step up "into the pocket" after a shotgun and therefore provide your OL some angle of defense, since the defenders are trying to get at the man BEHIND the OL, as opposed to the DL running past them and sacking the QB, as they almost always did, or threatened to do?

I don't think our OL is as bad as people say. I think Jefferson is making their job one hell of a lot harder.

if jefferson would learn to take 2 steps into the pocket instead of just standing around then he wouldn't get sacked so much and our offense would be much more productive.

Go watch the Peach Bowl from last year. JJ is NOT a pocket QB. It is the coaching that is trying to make him one...and it is a failure. If you noticed at the end, (when it was too late), he was allowed to roll out for a few plays, and he got on a little roll. Then they put him back in a pocket passer role, and he was subsequently sacked...twice...ballgame.

JJ is a true sophmore. This game was the biggest for him as a starter. i was not suprised at what I saw last night out of our O. FLA came into this game with the #1 D in college football, 11 return starters from their :crystal: last year.....they shut down the #1 scoring O in OK in the BCSNCG last year. The coaching staff needs to work with JJ and teach him how to work the pocket, get ride of the ball faster and step into, not back out to give himself more time.....JJ had 6 to 7 sec to pass the ball but made bad decisions. JJ will improve and get better with time...maybe put Shepard in next game and see were it goes. The Tigers D played their best game of the year. All in all I think LSU will have a chance to win SEC west and meet FLA in the SECCG.

Jefferson has very poor pocket presence and it's not improving much. He's also not a very good option quarterback. If he doesn't start improving fast on one or the other then Les has to consider other options.

Yeah! we actually made some yards on those plays. Wish the coaches would have started that earlier like when LSU was on the 2 yard line and tried to run it up the middle!! Kudos to the defense they had a great game. We just need some major help on the OFFense. I'm just glad it wasnt a blow out of 30 points or more. geeesss!:LSU231:

Sir, no offense is intended by this.

If you are not surprised when a roster full of 5* gazelles scores three points in a game...

If you are not surprised when...with all these receivers...we never throw a ball more than 10 yds...

If you're not surprised that people are gonna complain about that...

I just don't know what to say to you.

This is a discussion board. There are some stupid threads here today...but this isn't one of them. This one merits discussion. PLEASE don't come on here and talk about how great the defense played. We know that. This thread is about the offense...and it is embarassing. The way the defense played, with our talent on O, we should've won by 20.

You do bring up one good point. Maybe put Shepard in the game?? BRILLIANT!! But guess what. They didn't. They did the same thing all night over and over...and it failed.

The definition of insanity? Doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result.

No offenses taken. My point was the fact that Fla's D is #1 in the nation and our O is last in the SEC and around 100th in the nation......I have watched every snap of the tigers this year and by saying I was not surprised is basing that on what I saw out of the tigers O from game 1. If you notice I have been on here for a few years and do not post much. I would hope I add to, not hurt this discussion board. If I am not adding to this borad, maybe I should not post.

I find it interesting that people expect so much of JJ... the guy was a 3-star qb who got bumped to 4-star only because he committed to LSU. He is not the kind of guy that should be starting as a sophomore...

My brother brought up a good point last night.

We wouldn't be in this situation if Ryan Perrilloux weren't an unmitigated moron.

His foolishness still haunts us, and it's no surprise we struggle as a result.
