For a playoff. I know some of you don't care about conference superiority, but you simply cannot be the best unless you play the best, so the better your conference looks, the better your team looks. That said, over HALF of the current BCS top ten is all SEC, yet we're still crucified for losses to in-conference games. It just ain't right. None of the top three would be undefeated through the SEC, but they get to play for the marbles because they don't play the same competition. The best team in the country is in the SEC, without a doubt, but we don't get to prove it because we've already beaten the Hell out of each other. One more year of this crap, and then we'll see an influx of fairness and SEC domination the likes of which CFB has never seen before. /endrant
I don't see it as a rosy alternative. Maybe if 8 teams. Probably bc I don't trust the powers that be. I've enjoyed the status quo immensely thus far. The biggest problem is everyone now makes a bowl game. Except auburn.
I'm beginning to see a world where a playoff and bowls can coexist... as long as the playoff is kept small. Once you get out of the top 8 you are really looking at some inferior football teams. Who wants to see a #1 ranked team beat a #16 team by 50 points? Top 8 is as far as I'd go, with no automatic bids for conferences and no limit on conference entries. A TRUE TOP 8. Let the remaining bowls act as college football's NIT.
IDK if eight is really necessary. There's almost always an SEC team in the top four, and IMO, if you can't even get to the top four, you're not the best team in the country. Plus, this way, the season maintains some of it's "meaning" that the BCS ass-kissers like to talk about. IMO, the playoff should be between the four highest-ranked major conference champions, and every conference should be required to have a CCG. Screw the little guys.
