There would be no need for the Arizona law if the US Border Patrol could do their jobs. There ain't nearly enough of them although Obama has added hundreds of new agents, it's not nearly enough and they keep shifting them from sector to sector instead of locking down every sector. And now we are starting to have new problems on the Canadian border and it requires taking some agents away from the southwest and moving them to the St. Lawrence valley. The Border Patrol CAN profile illegal aliens. It's their job to do just that. They have permanent roadblocks on all major highways near the border including I-10 and they profile each and every vehicle for illegals.
governor brewer is mandating that a class be developed for all law enforcement on how to enforce the law without profiing. yes, there are bad cops out there, just as every profession has bad apples. should we just dissolve law enforcement as a whole then? i mean, we wouldnt want anyone harassed during a traffic stop. we wouldnt want a rogue cop lying under oath. that has never happened before but it will become rampant with this law? just like every single day in law enforcement, you promote the good, and try to weed out the bad. as you would any profession. if this law is struck down for any reason other than it is the feds, not the states, responsibility, then how does the fed law stand? it is a mirror of that giving the states the same laws/tools.
Uh no, Legalize drugs, that isn't punishing anyone. Plus it gets rid of the cartels around the borders. It saves American's tax money, less taxes and less of our money goes to policing it. American's can make money if drugs were legal, now you have taken the power away from the Cartels and put it in the hands of Americans. And you kill the jobs, and kill the fact that they sell their drugs here, what the hell reason would they have for coming here, if they can't smuggle drugs, and can't get jobs? How does that hurt Americans, how does that in any way punish Americans?
what does that have to do with anything? no one is advocating for that. reasonable suspicion is too subjective, when dealing with a matter like this, it will eventually lead to profiling Americans.... thats my belief. Lets try to stay on topic. The irony of that comment is the ends justify the means argument you want to use for one issue and not for the other.
by the way I had a meeting this morning with one of your fellow Oklahoma natives, guy accent is out of this world, but he is cool as ever.
it is on topic. it is saying that we have good cops and bad cops no matter what they are dealing with. and we shouldnt say "but bad cops might profile so this is a bad law." if that is the case lets get rid of all laws cause bad cops might abuse those laws too. my argument is keep the law, along with all the other laws that might be abused, and deal with the bad apples if they pop up. you dont throw the baby out with the bath water.
so you are saying that because they are planning boycotts, they have to do a full-on refusal of everything from arizona or they are not genuine? it makes perfect sense to do some boycotts and still use the electricity. there is nothing unprincipled or inconsistent about that.
It's American employers that you want to put under the jail, but it's OK to legalize the product that the cartels are killing Americans over.
