I think after today's game, Miles will be FORCED to make some changes. Unfortunately, it looks like Tennessee will go after Orgeron while Miles scratches his head, oblivious to anything going on around him.
If Orgeron is the defensive genius he's supposed to be, perhaps LSU throws enough $ at him to get him here. Plus he's a damn good recruiter. :geauxtige
I'm not sold on Orgeron as a DC he's never been one and ole piss wasn't that good on D. He is a great recrutier and D-line coach though. I think we should go out and find a proven guy.
I've heard both of those things. And he DOES have a grudge against LSU, though I don't recall what it was about. :geaux:
That's just it. He will get a few GOOD recruits from Louisiana to go to Tennessee. And when they (recruits) start comparing Lane Kiffen (former pro coach) to Les Miles, it might get ugly.
Putting Mallory or Peveto at the helm of our defense will be a MAJOR mistake. I think whether it's right or wrong this defense with either one of their names attached will be a problem. Could you imagine what would happen if the defense was worse next year and one of these guys was in charge? Talk about a meltdown. It might be the first time in history that the home crowd storms the field after a loss.
I will support Miles as long as he is a head coach of LSU. that being said, two things remain to be seen. can he win with his own recruits, I know Ill be bashed for that but its true. People are watching and YES they do think that. I think he can but still the question will come up until he has a really good season with his own crew. Ive heard all the arguments about coaching Saban's players and they are Miles now and that is true. but talent cant be coached. AND I dont doubt he can win as long as his recruiting stays high. BUT the MEDIA will doubt it until he does. the second thing is can he remain in control and keep the hounds off long enough to make this a fluke year instead of a sign of things to come. he has to play the talent, not necessarily the ones with the most seniority. he has to recognize problems a wee bit earlier. it isnt like it was years ago, in this results driven world now, it wont take long for the cyrstal to lose its luster if he doesnt turn it around. After last week when he said the defense played well agaisnt Ole Miss, I seriously had some doubts. he just cant do that, LSU Alumni here in Indy and all over the US support the school and donate lots of $$ to the organization. Fans have a way of not showing up when things get rough. You can judge them and call them fair weather if you want but trust me they just wont show up, they will go to something else in this entertainment happy world. People tend to do what makes them feel good. and if they cant feel good about LSU ball they will go see a movie. Period. Les needs to worry about fair weather fans, because they fill seats and stadium seats is what keeps him employed. I dont care who bashes me in here but this is just the cold hard truth in todays world. I personally have sat through the worst losses but hey I'm a die hard. Point in fact I have always been a Saints fan even during the bag years.
I have not read this thread, and I do not intend to. The thing I always admired about Saban coached teams at LSU was the discipline exihibited on the field. This team lacks discipline, and the coaches appear, imo, to support the opposite. I believe it important to support a player who has a bad play, but to put your arm around someone whose bad behavior results in detriment to the entire team is unacceptable.
I think JSRacing makes some really good points. The honeymoon created by the crystal ball is officially over.
