LOL .. yeah .. it had it tied at 16.43 [bama]vs 16.47[lsu]. I put it at a 1 point game, just because LSU was slightly ahead .. like .04 ahead of Bama, and of course, I'm an LSU homer :hihi:. My qualitative factors had both teams scoring more than they did, and I upped it to a 23-24 ballgame ranges [17-23 for Bama; 24-30 for LSU]. So my qualitative monkeying around with it didn't pan out so well ..... , but the "formula" pegged it that it would be a tie. ...and in regulation . that is exactly what it turned out to be! 6-6.

The "qualitative" factors failed because they were offensive. However, "The formula" primarily focuses on Defenses, and their relative strength against the average points scored by the offense of the opponent. While the media homers had Bama's D being so much better than LSU, the data collection and analysis indicated that Bama's better numbers were a function of the weaker offenses they played. Thus, the 6.8 points allowed was adjusted up to 9.8 points allowed when put up against LSU's opponents. That left a 9.8 D vs an 11.2 D. Then, factoring in the defensive and offensive scores by both teams, "The formula" spit out the two numbers 16.43 and 16.47

Now that Bama is over, I probably won't run anymore, other than for pure entertainment. Ain't no way in hell I'm going back and gathering all the data for the NC Game ... Gathering all the Data for Bama was excruciating.

....errrr .. or maybe not ... who knows ..I enjoyed the hell out of doing it.

Tappy .. I don't dispute that. I know, we have the monsters up front to push forward a power run game.

I'm just saying .. imagine how great Bama's Offense would be with Bama's offensive line, the T.R. in the backfield, and Andrew Luck as the QB, and some top tier receivers at WR. You guys would smoke ANYBODY ..not just beat them, you would smoke them. You'd be a "Pro Team" at that point.

Ya also have to remember the OC. If your strategy is to burn up clock but score fewer points, like Bama and LSU do, then you opt for such. But, if the OC prefers "quicker" scores, lightening attacks, and LOTS of points, you work in a great QB and receiver core.

A truly "balanced" offense has the capability to do both. Neither Bama nor LSU have both capabilities this year. We are both, ground and pound. If Bama had that capability this year, they would have pulled it out and smoked LSU, but they don't. I'd say last years Bama Offense was more balanced than this year, as you had Julio Jones as a top tier receiver who gave you that threat.

Your offense is good Tappy, and Bama has a true superstar in the backfield, and an NFL caliber O-line ... but the offense as a whole [which includes the strategy and the OC] is not "great". I'm not trying to diss your guys or your team. I think LSU is no better, and may even be a tad worse. ... it's just reality.
