This could screw us. Let's say hypothetically we win out beating Bama and we are their only loss. Also Auburn loses another too. Bama would win the SEC West over LSU because they will have the better win %. Am I wrong?
Butch Jones has already made an official statement that LSU/Florida have to play each other. If the vols lose to TAMU and Bama and the Gators win out, it scares him to think on the possibilities. The worst of the deal now with LSU would be the 3 straight SEC away games you will have to play if Nov 19 is the makeup date.
Why would that be when head to head we beat them? From the SEC championship game rules Just found this: Division standings are based on each team's overall conference record. Often, two or more teams tie for the best record in their division and each team is recognized as a divisional co-champion. However, tiebreakers are used to determine who will represent the division in the championship game. Two-team tie-breaker procedure Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams. Although all division rivals meet during the season and NCAA overtime is played in case of a tie game, NCAA Rule 3-3-3, Suspending the Game, has two provisions (c and d) for a tie game in case of weather or other emergency situation, or logistics makes it impossible for the two tied teams' game to be played in case of severe weather. As such, SEC rules still contain the remaining procedures if those circumstances were to happen. Records of the tied teams within the division. Records against the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last. Complete record vs. all non-divisional opponents. Complete record vs. all common non-divisional teams if there be any. Record vs. common non-divisional opponent (if there be any) with the best overall conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division. Best cumulative conference winning percentage of non-divisional opponents Coin flip of the tied teams
But there is now no possible way LSU can be one of the tied teams. Everybody else will have played 8 SEC games while LSU only plays 7. Only way the Tigers go to Atlanta is if they are the only one loss team.
I wasn't sure if number of wins would make the difference with a canceled game just the number of losses. In other words 7-1 would count like 8-1 when the game is not played due to incident out of schools control. That would sure suck if a storm would penalize us. Not sure at this point if we could run the table but if that would happen, it would sure hurt for the gumps to get over us again. Guess we can just ruin everyone else from accomplishing their dream season.
