We passed for half of our plays yesterday. We passed TOO much. ...and we're missing a mobile QB. Mett is making Jarrett Lee look fleet of foot.
Half were on the final drive because we were losing and he was forced to. Only at lsu would any fan think 10 passes through 3 qtrs is throwing too much. We lost to a below average florida team by ufs standards. We couldn't run because we don't develop a passing game. Just like in January. More of the same. You don't wait til you arrive in the swamp with dude where's my car and suddenly hope he's established confidence. You had ample time with rentawins. Yet the offense regresses and zero adjustments are made when every person with vision saw what was coming. Even if we had won it wouldnt have changed our ineptness.
Slanted use of stats Tirk Reviewing the 1st half drives LSU passed 11 times and there were 3 sacks signifying 3 more pass plays called. LSU started at their own 14, 9, 6, 21, 8, 40 and finally the FL 7. Considering there were several 3 and outs with incomplete passes (4 drops) it seems there was aggression in the offensive game plan. Half the 25 passes were called when we were even or leading. Execution was poor and if a couple of the drops had been caught the whole flow of the game would have changed. While there are reasons to be dis satisified with the offense it doesn't appear what is called is as much a problem as how the plays are run. BTW the coaches have a major responsibility for the sloppy play. Better coaching would correct these mistakes.
I was speaking from memory on stats. Anyone who watched gets the gist of what went down. The usual. No real surprises.
False the usual has been 3 runs or 2 runs and a 3rd down pass. That is NOT what was called. You must be remembering last year because this year we have passed more but have been less effective. The blame is more on the execution which as I said is shared by the players and coaches.
Counting sacks and the failed jump pass, we threw it 15 times in the 1st half, and ran it 12 times (for gains of -2, 0, 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 9, 13) In the 3rd qtr, we threw it 5 times and ran it 4 times for (gains of 0, 2, 3, 4) In the 4th qtr, we threw it 10 times and ran it 4 times (for gains of -2, 2, 3, 5) So there you have it, we were a pass-first team all game yesterday As for your theory about having to develop a passing game to be able to run, Florida disproved that yesterday by beating us 14-0 in the 2nd half without evening trying to develop a passing game... Of the 37 plays Florida ran in the second half, 33 were runs. Only two of Driskel's four passes were directed past the line of scrimmage.
It's too late to learn a passing game in the swamp. Florida won bc we were inept before this game and still. Nothing else is relevant.
going pass-first in the Swamp with a green QB facing a deafening roar from the home crowd was ballsy and unexpected, and we paid the price One positive i take from the coaches riskily putting that much faith in Mett is that Mett might be so good the coaches expect him to blow up sooner rather than latter ...
We probably threw on first down 3 times before The 4 th. but then again we only had 8 total, first downs. We aren't passing too much. We just don't have an offense. Typing on on ipad sucks.
