and Tebow showed major attitude his whole Florida career and was universally praised because he didn't want to mess around too much (if at all) with the hotties throwing themselves at him, wore a bible verse on his face during games, claimed he was Christian, and stayed out of trouble off the field (the stories of Hernandez getting into trouble when out with Tebow didn't surface until recently)
Did Les even recruit Manziel? Hypothetically, if Jenny Fartball was on LSU's squad I think he would have been benched or kicked off of the team by now. The reason I question if we ever even pursued him is because he seems to have the personality traits that Les Miles seems to avoid putting in his locker room. When Miles was hired, it was so late in the recruiting game that I think Miles took what was already delivered to him in terms of recruits so he could have a decent class coming out of the gate. Aside from Perrilloux, the only player I can think of that was a Tiger that even comes remotely close to Jenny Fartball was probably Brad Wing. Wing was a pale, pale shade of what we see in Womanziel and Les Miles had no qualms about suspending Wing for the Chicken Bowl. (BTW...anyone think what a difference having Wing in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Clemson *might* have made with respect to the outcome?)
Had LSUs mass exodus of NFL players had their heads in the game and not on the NFL that game would've never even been close. For all the distractions and disappointment of the bowl itself, LSU lost by what 1pt?
LSU has had it's share of off the field issues but I can't recall any major on the field or on the sidelines issues under Les.
I'm going to interject something here real quick because it's an interesting turn. Two players, both the same age and publicity when they received their award. This alone blows that "20 yr old"...you get the picture. Back to original programming...
I think it would have been similar up to this point (if he played for Miles). It will be interesting to see how it unfolds at A&M during the season. I think Sumlin will handle the situation better than most coaches. However, when you have a player whose parents actually thought it was a good idea to get vanity license plates with "JFF Mom" and "JFF Dad", then it may be too big of a challenge.
after the media bashing johnny took for his behavior v Rice I can't see Manziel acting up on the field again. put yourself in his shoes, if you acted like an ass during a game, and then any sports radio or tv show you tune into during the next week is bashing you for it, then you're going to quit act like an ass during games as for sumlin, he has already proven that he couldn't handle it better than most coaches. most coaches would have suspended johnny for the whole rice game. and those that decided to play him would have only done so after telling johnny before the game that he better be on his best behavior, or at least told him to cut it out the first jackass action he did during the game no idea why sumlin didn't do any of that, but sumlin is in a tough spot. when Kingsbury left last year, all the tweets from johnny and his teammates showed they have little respect for sumlin. sumlin has nothing to do with their offense (other than picking the OC) and everybody knows that johnny is more important to aTm's success this season than sumlin. so their isn't much sumlin can do. but like I said, just the media alone has made sure johnny won't act like a jackass on the field again, not to mention people johnny does respect like friends and adults he does respect
Do you really think he respects anybody besides himself? I don't. And I don't believe he'll let the media change who he is because it's obvious that in his mind, he doesn't have to. He's a classic villain, and I can't wait to see him get KTFO.
had manziel known the bashing he'd get for his actions in the Rice game beforehand, he wouldn't have done it. johnny wants to turn on the radio and tv and hear everybody talking about how great he is, not about what a jackass he is
