I would say that you are correct here in a historical sense. If you look at oh say the last 10-15 years I'd say that every one of these teams have sort of "lost their ummph" as far as being a "top gig". Well, maybe not the luck eyes but as this year showed they are still just a bunch of hot air. I would wager that if you put truth serum in Brady Hoke, Big game bob, Brian Kelly and that weasel suburban they would all say they would at least take a very hard look at moving to Baton Rouge, hell it wouldn't surprise me one bit if little benedict himself wouldn't do a double take. LSU has, over the last decade averaged out to a much better position to most if not all of these teams combined. Un-ruffle your feathers @LSUDad I'm getting there. I would say that with the possible exception of FSU that LSU is at least 1 step above all of these programs. Easily. Perhaps that is my homerism coming through but I can't imagine that any objective opinion would see it any different. Just as I believe @lsu-i-like pointed out, LSU has just about everything it could want in spades sans a stadium that holds 100k plus but I'm sure TAF is on the way to knock that off the list. Here you go @LSUDad this is by and large a product of the CLM tenure with an honorable mention to Mr. Short man syndrome to the east as well as the dago that recruited out of his mind talent but just didn't know what the hell to do with it. Here is the thing. I cannot prove this but I'd be willing to bet that if I knew X number of actual coaches at various levels I'd say the more successful ones have at least one common trait. A very over inflated ego. Don't think for a minute there aren't a bus load of them around the country foaming at the mouth with what they could do with the talent that is on LSU's sidelines on any given week/year. I think you are selling the job way short when you lump them in with with whatever tier you would call that group you put them in. Of course this is all conjecture and the blow hards will always say those big ten fags are the top of the heap but that is due in large part because they have such massive alumni, same goes for that pot infested institution located in austin. Am I saying or advocating for the running off of miles, no not really. He absolutely drives me off the God Damned rails with some of the hair brained decisions he makes. Maybe that goes with the hydrocephalus, who the hell knows, maybe he is an alien, it doesn't matter. What I'm trying to say is I don't think it would be that difficult to find a very highly qualified coach to take over and win should the situation ever present itself. Just my opinion. Now..."have a nice day"
I have been one of those in the past. Now I'm saying if we bomb out in recruiting and lose the bowl, which is different than saying I expect we'll lose in recruiting and bowl and next season on. I'm enjoying the ride, but on the edge of my seat where Les has kept me most of his tenure.
If Texas has any sense: 1) David Shaw - Stanford 2) Mike Gundy - Oklahoma State 3) James Franklin - Vanderbilt 4) Kevin Sumlin - Texas A&M 5) Cam Cameron - LSU Wouldn't be the best or worse hires: 1) Jim Mora Jr - UCLA 2) Mark Dantonio - Michigan State 3) Les Miles - LSU 4) Steve Spurrier - South Carolina 5) Bret Beliema - Arkansas Not no, but fuck no: 1) Al Golden - Miami 2) Dabo Swinney - Clemson 3) Todd Graham - Arizona State 4) Mark Anderson - Wisconsin 5) Rod Carey - Northern Illinois You have no shot at: 1) Jimbo Fisher - Florida State 2) Gus Malzahn - Auburn 3) Art Briles - Baylor 4) Urban Meyer - Ohio State 5) Nick Saban - Alabama Ones that won't get called: 1) David Cutcliffe - Duke 2) Gary Pinkel - Missouri 3) Charlie Strong - Louisville 4) Mark Helfrich - Oregon 5) Mark Richt - Georgia
