So, work yesterday... was only there for an hour and a half. They're having us work in five hour shifts until further notice since the AC is STILL out. Thank God they let us wear t-shirts and shorts, but someone's going to get a power punch if they show up in jorts. At home, we just got cable back, but still no electricity. Thank God for the generator, but one more day without AC anywhere and I'm going to die.
In Denham Springs, our subdivision is on DEMCO. We're very fortunate...we only lost power for about 1 day. It was up and running around noon on Tuesday. Cable started working on Wednesday. As far as damage, lost a couple of trees and our neighbor's tree fell onto our fence in the backyard. This is the hardest BR has been hit in a very long time. Andrew did some damage back in 1992 but it wasn't as widespread. Seems like there's more news as to what didn't happen in New Orleans as to what is going on in and around the capitol city. Hopefully everybody can get back to normal ASAP.
Back to normal here. Got power yesterday afternoon, yard's cleaned, cable is up and elderly in-laws back home in Metairie. :thumb:
10:20am today, wife and I were in the garage cleaning, she noticed the light in the garage was on, hollered to me. We ran outside and saw the water flowing into the goldfish pond outside. YES!!! Everything is back, phone, cable, internet. The a/c is chilly but I'm letting it run! No real damage, we're very fortunate and thankful. My generator was a champ (like the Tigers) and kept the fridge & freezer going. Happy to be back on TF, hope all is well for the everyone. :usaflagwa
I'm back at work with power and internet. Hopefully they'll get my house back up with power this weekend. Just spent the last 3 days cleaning the yard. I work behind a desk. This labor thing is for the birds. All my muscles and joints ache.
still without power. staying with some friends in suburbs who have electricity and cable and internet (thank you!). basically have had a free pass from work for as long as i need it. i guess it pays to be loyal to a company for 15 years. all the streets around me have power, but not us. the entergy guy, who i tracked down in the neighborhood behind me at the point of power corruption, told me i should have power no later than sunday. he said there were 7 large trees and a whole lot of line fixin' between me and electricity. he was friendly. i offered him a beer. he refused (good thing. it'd sucked to have to walk back home and get him one). anyway, i'm glad everyone who's coming back on is safe. houses and other things can be fixed....well...i'm just glad we're all ok.
That happened to us up here after our April tornado. Even people across the STREET from us had power, but not us. That's incredibly frustrating.
