Brutal. I hope they at least relaxed the dress code and let you wear shorts. That's what Northrop Grumman did for us when we had to return with no A/C after Katrina.
Back at home....Morgan City gradually getting itself back together. Just got off the phone with a co-worker who lives in Thibodaux, he's got relatively little damage but no power.
I talked with OT this morning, and she told me 327's wife was in an air conditioned room wherever they are staying, so that's good. From what she said, her folks had it pretty rough, and BR looks like a hurricane hit it. My brother rolled into BR today...he worked there for 9 months after Andrew, and says it worse this time. He basically said that if a tree stood before the storm, it fell during the storm...and it hit something on the way down.
7am and sitting in a gas line. been here for past hour. close now yay! and this is one out in the country... in city of gonzales, one line stretched as far as the eye can see. othere were about the same wife has been making steady walks/trips to store and going inside. we'll have everything we need by time we are done here thank goodness!!!!! closest we have come to civilization in a while
I can only imagine being nine months pregnant without electricity. That would not be fun. Fishhead, did your home come away without significant damage? I heard there were a number of tornadoes in that area. My uncle, who's a state trooper, called my parents last night and said that the house my grandmother had lived in (she's been dead for 4 years) in Albany was hit by a tree and is split in half. That makes me sad, as that's the closest thing to a steady "childhood home" I ever had because we moved around a lot when I was a child.
We lost power for a day and we lost some shingles. After Katrina experiance here in Pass Christian to say that I am thrilled would be an understatement.
Just some slight roof and fence damage here, got power and water but the cable is iffy at best. Anybody heard from nootch yet?
Thanks for asking. My house had no damage, but my parents had a huge water oak down. Most of the damage was to the detached shop/shed that the tree fell across. It also caught the rear corner of the house, and poked a hole in the roof. My wife, being the tough Ole Miss girl that she is, went over yesterday morning and put a tarp on it so it wouldn't leak. They also have some shingles that were sucked off by the tornado. All in all, not too bad.:thumb:
no, i was thinking about that this morning. keeping my fingers crossed for him. glad to hear your damage was minimal.
