Glenn Dorsey played in every game from his freshman year on and even started a few in place of injured guys. He didn't sneak up on anyone in 2006. He just played behind a couple of guys named Claude Wroten and Kyle Williams. I agree with your assessment that some players need more time...but Dorsey ain't that guy.
I know. But it's hard for a guy who hasn't yet reached his physical and mental peak to take a job away from an experienced SEC veteran, much less an NFL veteran. It's why I think most of these juniors, especially linemen, should take the "stay in school" grade seriously.
Yes, we all see the 4 and 5*'s. But that's just it, someone's opinion. How can one player in Tx be rated higher than one in Fla? Don't feel bad, Pro teams have the same problem, finding the right kid out of college, not easy. DL and OL are hard to project, can they add weight, weight in the right places, have they stopped growing, too many questions? We are starting to make a run with OL, we have been lacking in that position for too long.
The guy is a freak. His draft status will go way up if he has the performance at the combine that I think he will.
LSU DE Danielle Hunter says he is entering NFL draft Posted: Jan 09, 2015 12:42 PM CST Updated: Jan 09, 2015 12:43 PM CST Posted by WAFB Staff LSU defensive end hits the quarterback for Sam Houston State, forcing an interception on Sept. 6, 2014. Another member of the LSU defense has said he is ending his college career to start playing football professionally. Junior defensive end Danielle Hunter posted on Twitter that he will enter the 2015 NFL draft. "To the LSU organization, the football coaching staff, the fans and all Tiger Nation, after fully considering all aspects related to mine and my family's future, I have decided to declare for the NFL draft," the post read. "Coming to LSU was the best decision of my life so far. It has been an incredible experience and I thank you all for the opportunity and the great support. I am and I will stay a Tiger for ever and I will always bleed purple and gold." Hunter finished his career at LSU with 133 tackles, 49 of those solo. He had eight tackles for loss and five sacks. He also forced two fumbles. He is the third LSU defensive player to declare for the 2015 NFL draft after their junior season. Linebacker Kwon Alexander and cornerback Jalen Collins have also announced they are entering the draft.
Best of luck to him. Sounds like he loves being a Tiger. You have to appreciate kids like this. All that said, Hunter is someone who would certainly benefit from another year of school. He will test well though and teams will salivate. Pick him much higher than his production would dictate. He will be a work in progress to say the least.
I agree with you whole heartedly but LSU has lost its senior class that keeps these young guys on the bench for a few years. They reach what they think is their 'peak' as a junior. I think in a lot of cases momma's ready for her new house also.
