Yeah I don't know how I left him out, he's a stud. Still though, weren't Bain, Gilmore, and Herron all highly touted? How are all 3 duds?
Some just take a little longer to develop, some never do. They are still young, wouldn't call all of them duds just yet. I did get to see Valentine play in the All-Star game, I could see why they wanted to get him into school.
more were whiffs coming into this season but panned out. maybe one or two more come through next year. but i think its clear they arent what we thought and expectations have been lowered.
I would not say that Bain, Gilmore, or Herron are duds just yet but it's getting close. Some kids do need a bit more time no matter how highly touted. Ego was a kid who took a few seasons. If we do not see a big improvement on any of those kids we probably won't. It sucks because it does not look like LSU will be pulling any surprises in recruiting on the DL this year.
And then come the reports, he never said that, and has not decided yet. SOme say he wants to return, some say he wants to declare for the draft. Wait and see....
How are any of these 4* and 5* busts??? Too many recruiting services, too many opinions from those that really don't know IMO. These days, recruiting is nothing but PR campaigns.
They are not. Linemen benefit a lot from a redshirt year. These kids are still growing and most also need a year in Moffit's conditioning room before going up against stronger, older SEC competition.
I can only guess that it is a mix of the people handing out the stars not knowing what the hell they are looking for, perhaps basing it off of how many twitter things they have and/or just not doing the leg work and getting out to watch them play. Box scores can lie, your eyes never will
