Hundreds of Militants Planning Attacks From Yemen, Foreign Minister Says - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com Al Qaeda is now in countries throughout the middle east as well as the world. Although I think our leaders had to do what we did in Afghanistan there really isn't any reason to stay unless you believe in nation building in Afghanistan. I am for pulling the troops home if for no other reason than this administration is uncomfortable with victory. The humanitarian part of me wants to stay and help make the world a better place but at the same time a better place for who once we leave? Also our military isn't suppose to be used for nation building either. Anyway I didn't mean to debate us staying in Afghanistan but I think it is past time for our strategy to change. It will be many years before we know if Iraq and Afghanistan was worth the risk. We now know that we can't invade every country just because terrorists are there. We simply don't have the resources or the will to do that either. What is the answer on the future operations of the war on terror or do you believe the war on terror is over? Edit: I miss the good ole days when it was country vs country!
The good old days, were actually, "war vs war." One was in a war to win, territory/resources, whatever. If you were not a friend, then you were an enemy. Either you smiled, or you died. Period. All this "nation building" through the military is BS. We will never "win" one of those. Winning is only possible if the MAJORITY of the population is on our side, and if that is the case, we would not be there in the first place. Viet Nam was the same thing, we had to "prop" up a regime. We are propping up the leaders, and I use that in the broadest possible context, of both Iraq and Afghanistan, while the real menace, Radical Islam is running amok somewhere else. We should pull out of both Iraq and Afghan...YESTERDAY. Those places have always been zoos, always will be. Just declare victory and leave. This is not rocket science. hwr
