Too Young??? I have to assume you're an LSU fan. If, in fact, you're a true fan, you KNOW what the game means to you. About this time of year, you get up with anticipation inside of you. It's almost time for the season to start. It's HARD to wait. Especially when some other team's season starts early and you have to watch knowing that the Tigers will soon be taking the field on another day. You KNOW how it must SUCK to be a fan of one of the lesser teams in the Nation; you're a TIGER fan.
Should you take your child to the game? Should you have a cup of coffee in the morning when you wake up? Should you take the medications the doctor prescribed to you? Should you love your family? Should you honor your mother and father? Should you Not Steal? I'm not sure this question needs to be answered by anyone other than yourself.
After reading this, get on your knees and thank whoever you pray to that you're able to go to an LSU tiger football game (some of us live in other places). Also take pride in the fact that you get to share that with your child. I went to my first LSU game when I was a little tike (I was a little tike?). I'll NEVER forget how it felt when our players took the field. And to top it off, LSU is going through the BEST years our football team has ever had (IMO). Enjoy it with your son, REALLY enjoy it. You could be a Tulane fan.

Obviously it's too late now, but I'd highly recommend the spring game. We took my daughter starting at the age of 2. She would always get hyped up for going to see the Tiger and the cheerleaders... but ultimately would want to leave after about 45 minutes. The spring game she was 6, she started asking more questions (why does that guy have a green jersey/etc) and I could tell she was starting to pay attention. That's the year she never once squirmed about leaving the spring game... and that's the year we took her to her first game in the fall.

I'd say 6 could be a good age, but it really does depend on the child.

tl;dr version: if you're uncertain save the $, and try the spring game next year.

Thinking about taking my son to his first game this year. He'll be right about 3. I'll definitely look for it to be one of the in-state games. Easier to get tickets and will probably thin out by halftime.

I brought my son when he was about 1 year old. He slept the whole game. Ole Miss game. Last home game of the year. JaMarcus Russell's last game in Tiger Stadium. My little girl at the time was 5. It was FREEZING COLD that night in Tiger Stadium. The kids bundled up in blankets and fell asleep before half time.

I don't know whether they were too young or if it was just too damn cold.....but it probably was a waste of $$ for those tickets. The good part about it is my daughter can say that she's been going to games since she was 5 and my little boy can say he's been going since he was 1.:thumb:

the guy that has the tickets next to me often brings his little girl when he has her for the weekend. (i think shes about 7.) she is an angel and tries to get into the game and even if she doesnt exactly know why, when something good happens or we score she gives me a high five. :hihi:

a good friend took his 5 year old a couple of years ago and the kid had a blast. thats all the child talked about for weeks. i think it was still one of the highlights of his life so far.

that said, ive seen older kids that drive me crazy. i agree with whoever said take em to a high school game and see how they act. then try a cupcake ooc game to see if they can handle ts.

no, leave them at home unless they really want to be there. that way it's easier for others to get tickets. :hihi:

seriously though, it really gets under my skin when i see large groups of people going to the game, NEVER pay attention and talk and socialize and then leave before halftime. i'm like "WTF!?" i'd rather have someone who is going to enjoy the game and root for the Tigers at the game. someone who'll enjoy it. but it's become a status thing. really though, bring your kids, man!

Yep, that's what I did with my son this year.

He was about 2 1/2 at the time. We got to the stadium a bit early so we got to watch TGBFTL outside the Assembly Center, went into the stadium about 30 minutes before kickoff, had a burger and watched the first half. He was getting a little antsy, so we left at halftime. It worked out great.

I'm also, like another poster suggested, planning to take him to a couple of HS football games this fall and maybe even a day game at Southeastern.

I figure he'll be ready for a non-conference regular season game in the 2011 season.

Had 4 season tickets when my kids were that age. My son was a big fan and enjoyed the game, cheered for LSU and had a great time. We'd bring crafts for my daughter to do and she was always occupied. But it was a nice family event with a few hours of fun and tailgaiting prior to the game.

My daughter went to the LSU/Arkansas game in '07 when she was six. She loved, loved, LOVED it. Now, it helped that we were able to go back to my uncle's RV after the game and let her sleep until the traffic cleared, so she was warm and comfortable in there.

She will be going to the same game this year, and she's already talking about it. She counts the total number of football games she's attended, high school and college. Now, she's begging to attend a Cowboys game in the new stadium this year.

But maybe it's because she's a raving football fan like me. Oh, and the fact that I have a "we're not getting up for food or bathroom while the game is being played--better get it in before or at halftime" rule. It worked for my mom when I was a kid, too. Never missed a play!
