I don't know if it is b/c I love LSU so much, but I really do think we will win the west and play Florida in the SEC champ game.. From everything I have seen and read, it really seems (to me) that LSU is DOING WORK this off season... However, from all the polls i've seen, they have LSU like 3rd in the west lol.. Am I missing something? Or is it b/c people just thought LSU is out of gas..... For some years now, we've had the talent to go undefeated, however, it is the SEC and it takes a real special team to pull that off... I think this could be it... To hopeful?
Take a look at our conference schedule and compare it to everyone else in our division... vs Vandy @ Miss St @ UGA vs Florida vs Auburn @ 'Bama @ Ole Miss vs Arky See the road games? And then there's the big one at home against the national champs who return just about everyone from that team. For me, it looks like 9-3, but I really hope we win more. I see 3 swing games- @ UGA, @ 'Bama and home vs Arky. If we win those 3 then we can finish 10-2. I think we'll drop 3 games: @ UGA, home vs UF and @ Ole Miss. Having said that, I believe we'll beat 'Bama on the road. But really and truly, you never know. The injury bug could hit Ole Miss, or even Florida and leave the conference wide open. Or, we could be really hungry, get hot and squeak out a few close ones. By the way, post #900 ya'll!!! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
9-3 or 10-2. The SEC schedule is too tough to sweep. We can beat anyone we play including Florida, but it ain't likely that we will win them all.
like a broken record, this will be a very good team but will lose at least two SEC regular season games and maybe four total.
What the team is capable of doing: If the pieces come together at the right time 11-1 with a loss to Ole Miss. Bama is gonna be a physical game, and then having to get right back on the road to play Ole Miss facing the best QB in the West the following week is too much. What would be a "disappointing" season: 9-3 or 8-4 with losses to Florida, Georgia, Bama and/or Ole Miss. I think we will take at least 2/4 of those games. And it's great to say that a 4-loss season is now a disappointment as a fan. How I think we'll end up: 10-2 with a loss to either Bama or Ole Miss, and either Georgia or Florida. Even this may not be good enough for a SECCG appearance given the relative weakness of other West team schedules. This is where Florida as a permanent opponent just kills us with how good the rest of the West is. Also, I know Arky is a trendy dark horse pick, but after what happened last year we should stomp Arkansas this season, hands down.
I hate predicting games but we will do better than last season. If not, there will be a lot of unhappy Tiger fans. I'll take 9-3 and hope for 13-0 but will be happy either way.
9-3, with a better shot at 10-2 than 8-4. We still have no upper classmen at QB. That lack of experience can hurt. On the other hand, if our two new o-linemen come around, the QB gives us a little upside surprise, Scott and Williams play well, and Terrence Tolliver and Rueben Randall play to potential, it could get interesting. I'd like to lose to Fla. in the regular season, win the west and come back and beat Fla. in Atlanta. That's the best I can hope for. We could possibly beat Fla. twice, but two upsets is a lot to ask for. I think we'll contend for the west and make things interesting all season. Peterson and Chad Jones will roam on defense. What has happened to Stephon Francois, I recall he was a 5* coming out of high school. He should see the field this year, right?
I don't think this is THE year for LSU. I say LSU has a solid 9-3 regular season and they will win their bowl game and finish 10-3.
Absolutely, positively, no way we lose to UGA. They're being tasked with finding an entirely new identity on offense. I think this years team plays with a very, very serious chip on it's shoulder, stemming from the abysmal performance of 2008 (see also: Peach Bowl). Also, consider this: it took a down right DISASTROUS campaign at the QB position and on defense for the Tigers to lose 5 games last year. Lee's pick-6's were the difference vs UGA and Bama, and the defense literally fell asleep to surrender the game-winning score vs Arky. That means that we were 4 plays away from a 2-loss season. . .with seemingly everything working against us. I certainly don't like to play the 'what if' game, but it just goes to show that we didn't exactly get trounced in all of our losses. Above all, LSU was extremely lacking in any sort of on-the-field leadership last season. I expect that to change this fall. On offense, I know about a guy whose last name starts with 'J' and ends in 'efferson' who clearly seems up to the task. Sure, he's relatively inexperienced. But no one can deny how well the entire offense gels when he's in the game. Defensively, there's this other fella who just played a significant role in helping the baseball team win it's 6th NC who I think will assume control. I believe the CWS was a major maturing experience for CJ, and that his potential will be realized under the direction of Chavis and, perhaps more importantly, Ron Cooper. That said, I see LSU dropping one regular season game, resulting from that log-jam of a schedule. Can't say to whom, but I expect it to provide extra motivation for the remaining games of the season. Sure, I may sound a little too optimistic for some of you. But I honestly think that all of the pieces are in place. If we can avoid injuries at key positions, we will be very, very good. Damn strong, in fact.
Agree with this 100%. Florida and Ole Miss both handled us, but the rest were flukie. We scored 31 points a game last year, which should be enough to win any game, provided we play a little defense. I think so, too. I'm pretty confident in this teams abilities. Not 2003 or 2007 confident, but pretty confident, none the less.
