    Let's see...
A fight between the best athletes in college football and a couple of drunks pulled out of a truck. The drunks lose, of course. Then a young Marine attempts to intervene and is physically outmatched by top-level athleteS. Then, after the fight has ended, one of the LSU football players kicks him in the head while he is down on the ground.
(I get an image of Michael Vick killing dogs.)
How much slack does a person like this deserve?
Let him start over at some other school. He's blown it here. But, he gets a chance to start over. If he wasn't an LSU football player, he'd never get that chance.
    I doubt Jefferson appreciates this.

I think seeing some of the garbage that's being thrown around the message boards gives a pretty good indication that some fans will react like morons. This team will be fine with or without JJ on it. The team wanted him back and rallied behind him, and they also rallied behind Lee to lead them when they needed him to do it. Nothing has changed, other than the fact that we're one senior deeper @ QB now. I see this as a good thing, because whether he plays or not, other teams are going to have to account for him in their defensive scheme. It's not like he's going to come in and start over Lee, or be part of a 2 headed QB scheme. He'll get put in when either A) Some defense has Lee's number or he is injured, or B) When we're up by enough that Lee can come out and be fresh for the next game.. You know.. like a 2nd string QB does.. Like him or not, Jefferson is plenty capable of making plays against big name teams, or cleanup duty for that matter.

Sometimes I wish some of the fans would just shut their pie holes and enjoy the fact that football season's here, rather creating the 2011 season's episode of "What can I find cataclysmically wrong with Miles/LSU this year??".

man wtf do you know?? you have said nothing other than what was in the news right after the incident. The facts have changed and that so called Marine is a disgrace as far as I'm concerned. You talk like you witnessed it yourself. Please enlighten us all here as to where all of your "facts" are coming from. This is NOTHING like Mike Vick. NOTHING! I'm sure you have never messed up or needed a second chance at anything. You are an azzhole.

Didn't you know ASD? He's one of the 5,000,000 people that were at Shady's that night.

Yea leave out how the upstanding young marine was harrassing a girl inside the bar and was hit with a restraining order and his past criminal history. Yea he was just coming to help and never drinks or stirs up fights.

Lets not also forget that he was arrested 2-3 weeks after the fight for leaving the scene of the accident after getting hammered. Starts walking down the road and claims that a vehicle tried to target him and run him over. Then he backed off another of his wild stories.

You do have a point there!

BTW, if JJ was such a bad character, he would have been kicked off the team by Miles long time ago.

Les obviously loves JJ; the person and the teammate. And he actually knows the guy, unlike us. I'll go with the big man's judgment on this one. I'm rooting like hell for JJ to finish his career strong. Chances are we'll need him on some big snaps down the road. We have 2 qb's with SEC battle scars that can get this thing done. And the team is behind both of them. I'm sure some people will boo but only those who have never made a mistake in their lives. And they ain't our friends anyway.
