This is exactly what I mean. Every football play is designed to score a touchdown, considering that execution is perfect. I used to laugh when my dad would sit at our kitchen table night after night and draw up page after page of football plays. But he insists it's true--and impossible, but that is the objective of every play. Again, as I have insisted for weeks, if our offense executed (say, on the level that they did in the Washington game), we are NOT having these endless discussions about our pathetic offense. It would not be a flashy offense, but it would be efficient (that's all the Bama offense is...) And it would be enough for our team to be great; as it is, we're still among the top 10 teams in the country. In short, I'm tired of fans dividing our TEAM into offense and defense. It's one team, albeit with one side performing much better than the other. It's that way on most teams, but the fans and media crave a flashy offense, regardless of whether or not the defense sucks. All things being equal, if one side of the ball has to be stronger than the other, I'm going to go with defense and pull for improvement on the offensive side of the ball.
I think it will always hold ...it takes both a good offense and defense to win. WVU .. great offense .. no defense ... they lose when they meat a Kansas State that has a good offense and good defense. WVU scores points .. but they can't hold off a good opposing offense, and a good or great defense is going to limit their scoring such that they just can't outscore their opponent. We have a great defense .. so I don't expect anyone to put up massive points on us. But we are going to need some offense if we plan to beat a team that also has a great defense.
If we can sell the play action pass, we have a shot. Our defense is just as good if not better. We are way to much, one dimensional. Teams know if we are going to run or going to pass. Can you teach Mett how to hide the ball? Can you use Ware, Shephard to throw in a little wrinkle. Offense is the key to beating Alabama.
I really think you and yours need to be worrying about MState. They may not be the catsmeow ... but they are the best team you guys have faced all season. ... they actually have a winning record.
I have watched a little bit of Alabama's games this year, I have missed some due to the kids activities and sorta paid attention at times. It is rather painful watching Alabama football. I never said we would get curb stomped. lol I would rather be pleasantly surprised at this point rather than disappointed. I did say its possible but I dunno, I just dunno! lol I don't truly know what to expect from this LSU team, it would be nice if the offense played football for 50 minutes instead of 20 or 30 minutes. I am so proud of the Defense they play their hearts out for 60 minutes. I honestly am scared this game will be like the one in January, Surprise me Tigers, not necessarily reflecting the score then but the offensive woes of last year continued.
I totally agree tiga, that is why I mentioned they could beat themselves, if they somehow lost to state and then come to Baton Rouge the week after, wow, it would have been Epic had they come undefeated! Off the charts, toughest game of the year in college football will be Bama vs LSU
