The stimulus was not designed to make political waves, but to avert a depression and it worked. every undustrial country in the world stimulated their economy for the same reason. I was in favor of using any other means to track then down and kill the people that came to kill us - but invading Afganistan was never going to end well. Both sides have professionals that do that well. The part I disagree with is the assumption in your statement that a majority of the people are to stupid to see past political lies. People are smarter than that; that's why they didn't buy the Republicans BS in 08, and they didn't buy the Democrats BS in 2010. The problem is the lack of choice. It's like when I had to go into the booth and choose between Edwards and Duke. I wanted to vomit on the levers. I voted for the crook, it was important. And then I went home and took a shower.
