I could not agree more. My point was that Newt was one of the good ones who followed through on his campaign promises.
im am not sure if i favor them going to specific industries based on what sort of work they do. very unfair. well, he lowered taxes, i like that. a democrat would have raised taxes. restrictions are definitely a problem, but labor will e cheaper overseas no matter what. i dont know whether he did or not. i do know he is workin on tort reform, which helps.
Bush cut government income while raising government spending greatly. That's what we call irresponsible. Cutting taxes to get the votes and curry favor with the right without making the hard decisions to cut the programs they fund leaves us with an unprecedented national debt. This president has no discipline on reducing government spending. He just like to give the appearance of it by cutting our taxes. Then he borrows the money to cover the shortfall by selling government bonds to the Bank of China. Deficit spending is out of control. Government growth is higher than the Clinton Administration. The economy is stagnant. The Iraqi quagmire sucks down a billion a week. "This administration is insolent, arrogant and unconcerned about the real world" -- George Will.
again, i dont subscribe to the notion that debt is necessarily bad. wasteful spending is certainly bad, and bush should do all he can to cut that out. but tax lowering is definitely good, because it grows the economy. smart spending grows the economy too, and even if it drives you deep into debt it is worth it, because the goal is growth, not a balanced budget. in fact a balanced budget is probably bad.
I don't know what you got your degree in. I don't know what you do for a living. But I can make a pretty good guess that it doesn't deal with economics (unless you are just bad at what you do). There's no reason to balance the budget every year. This has been rehashed many, many times in other threads.
traditionally, the donkeys only like to scream about a balanced budget when they aren't in office. I can remember when that was the LAST thing they'd want to bring up. How Ironic. Do you have a balanced budget? do you carry any debt over from the previous year? next Democrat to obtain the presidency will quickly raise taxes to cover "balancing the budget" and then promptly forget to do so. forget the budget, grow the economy and cut taxes. put money in the people's hip pocket. all this screaming of budget is just the Donkey's setting everyone up to vote DEM so they can raise taxes...what they do best. welcome to the same old song. the "publicans may spend alot but I'll take the lesser of two evils any day. The economy is growing.
You seem to forget that Clinton was running budget surpluses and paying down the National Debt. Also you forget that the economy was great under Clinton, it has been stagnant under Bush as it was under his father. You decry the "tax and spend" democrats, but the "cut taxes and spend even more" republicans are just fine? Ronald Reagan is rolling in his grave.
Do tell what happened to the Democrats but first, in comparing Bush to Obama: What would we call Obama? And now? Of course we know it's at an all time high and the economy much weakened.
reminds me of a great song that rang true from 2000-2008. Let it ring again.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw49mm-CmNo]YouTube - NOFX - Idiots Are Taking over[/ame]
Less irresponsible. Obama is a tax and spend democrat rather than a spend and borrow-from-China republican. Funding has been identified for Obama's health care program, two-thirds coming from spending now in place. Bush funded neither his wars nor his own Trillion-dollar Health Plan nor the TARP bailout. Well, the economy crashed under Bush, did you forget? Obama was faced with dealing with it and the stimulus worked. Every industrial country on the planet did the same thing for the same reasons--the government was the only entity that could get that much cash flowing into the system that quickly.
