Let's Go Saints!!! All my football hopes are with them now. 3-3 in the SEC is pathetic. Yes our D needs help and they lost a ton of talent and I don't expect them to be at that level this year. But some of it is coaching. Chavis takes the blame for soft defense on the last UGA drive and the mediocrea QB at Ole Miss. Metts gets a lot of blame for that game as well. The Bama game: Where was the rushing offense? We had success in the 1st then it stopped. That is on offensive game planning, OL blocking, and adjusting to the inability to run it up the middle. Our good rushes came when they bounced it outside. The other aspect is the DB coaching. They stink. The play with the TE out wide with Jalen Mills was a joke. He let him run a 10 yd post while giving him a 10 yd cushion and he looked like he was going to try and cover the underneath route. Then he jogs after the TE making the catch. Jalen Mills is awful, but we knew that I guess. We need a DB coach. Bama was known to be little weak in the secondary and we didn't do much to expose them, but maybe a few times. I don't know why we don't run more skinny post or short posts or even some screens. The play calling seemed pretty generic and their weren't too many quick pass plays, they were all more stand in the pocket for 4 seconds type of pass plays. Seems like if you have trouble keeping pressure off of Metts you change up to quick passing plays. There were some great play calling but I thought when things weren't working they didn't adjust. Bama shut down our O and that's that. We knew we had to get into a shoot out with them because of our D and we didn't.
It's kinda hard to know what to think. But we all said, including me, this game was going to come down to "which offense shows up". It looked like the "A" team in the first 1/2 and the first drive of the second half ... but it looked like Ol Miss after that. Give the D some credit ... they held pretty strong in the first half. We were in the game despite 2 rediculous turnovers, one that cost us 7 points, and one that gave the gumps 3 points. Half time score should have been 21-14 LSU. Bama scored on every possession in the 2nd half. LSU did not. In fact, LSU scored one FG in the 2nd half. You don't win games like that when your defense is not that good.
wake up it's miles it's always been miles, players just don't want to play 4 years for him, look at alabama 13 players graduated still on team playing one was Mc Carron that's the difference, read some of the articles from former players, miles just doesn't keep good players long he is more of a clown than a head coach.
true. but we were so outcoached the first half is almost irrelevant. we came in sky high for this game. then the emotions wear off and reality sets in. outclassed. when not one player is coached up on defense after almost an entire year, coaches have issues. freak and ego are reduced to average players at best. why is that. the secondary has young talent across the board. and remember this may be lsus best linebacking corps ever! thats right, thats what was said. and we have a top 10 class in recruiting most years. yet ole miss runs roughshod over our asses with walkons on defense and their best players out on offense rb and oline. why is that I wonder. more talent? probably not. we were outcoached by hugh freeze with a scrub squad, mark richt who outcoaches no one and bought false hope by shutting down florida. when in reality will muschamp does that himself. play a team with equal or even better talent at positions, we got little shot. our coaches are lost and the players have represented that all year. can they fix it?? how when chavis was the lone bright spot and now hes the problem. losing tm7 and pp may have exposed what we really have. Im not sure. we have 3 of the top draft picks on offense and we are average. either way, the outlook is not great for LSU given the competition in the west. reality has set in i believe. and set in hard.
I fear that is the case because, to them, the eventual outcome WAS NEVER IN DOUBT, so they are way, way past the point where it would even be a concern. They expected to win, they knew that we did not have the octane in the tank to get it done, so why worry, why bluster? Christ-on-a-Cracker, they could afford to be magnanimous. It's gonna take time to rebuild our D. And Mett's gone next year so we've lost our gunslinger. Recruiting and aggressive talent development is what we have to do. It's a long and winding road....
This staff is becoming a good ole boy club where you can make great money, win 8-9 games a season and coast to retirement. I think LSU should make a serious push at Stanfords coach.
