the competition is barred by law from delivering first class letters.

or they could just be abolished and we would pay ups/dhl/fedex to deliver things for actual cost, instead of using some customers to subsidize the people living out in the sticks.

yep. They have lots of really desolate places they deliver to.

I don't think that FedEx or UPS would go to those extremes without charging just a bit extra.

The USPS, by law, cannot raise their rates higher than the rate of inflation. Even then, the rate increases have to be approved by the US Postal Commission. Congress is looking at allowing the USPS to change its business model without congressional approval.

By mule. The same way lasalle got his mello yellow ammunition from Mexico.
I still see him more as a chocolate soilder and cheetos man than a mellow yellow fan though.

It is common knowledge that the GOP, the republicans, and conservatives are right-wing. I didn't want to talk to you as if to a child.

I don't support the Mexican drug war. Everything I partake in was grown in the good ole U.S. of A.

This is correct. However, the packages that they do deliver are based on a profitable model, the USPS is not.

Or, let them compete just like the above mentioned companies do.

They exist because of The Constitution and have been self-sustaining since the 1980's when they became independent.

Like any big business they have debts in some years. They have never defaulted on any and pay back treasury loans. They are prohibited by law from working a 5-day week like Fed-Ex and UPS and so must pay more overtime. The postage increase that is coming this summer from 44 cents to 46 cents will generate $2.5 billion in the first 9 months and will pay their debt.
