Did you miss the two long passes last week? Jefferson has every bit the arm strength as Lee, and is careful with the football to boot. Jefferson gives us the best chance to win, everyone might as well accept that.

You mean the one that dictates that he throws almost one per game, right?

it is a shame General Lee didn't turn out as planned... but he had big part in that. Oh wait, never mind... it was all on the coaches.. our coaches are all idiots

    Wow, TWO long passes.

    Most would not agree.

Perhaps, but he's not the Lone Ranger.

Of course not. But it took until the fourth game of the season for Jefferson to find those targets.
Ha! This is simply not true. Did you miss those three quackers that Jordan threw vs USL?
You mean the stat from last year, right? But yeah, maybe you're right. . .because players never improve over the course of their careers. I mean, Stafford had nearly as dreadful of a freshman campaign as Lee. And what did he ever do?

Agreed. And if I'm not mistaken, Lee had about the same number of yards and TD passes as a Freshman as did Matthew Stafford's Freshman season.

INT's are a funky stat. Not every INT is the QB's fault (tipped passes, WR running a wrong route on a timing pattern). Surely Lee had a LOT of INT's last year that WERE his fault (i.e. starring down 1 receiver, miss-reading coverage) but once the ball is picked off, it's everyone's job to tackle. And a few of those pick-6's towards the end of the year looked like a lot of the offensive players gave up on the play in a "here we go again"-way...

Y'all do realize that even with our 100 and something ranked offense that Jefferson still is basically even on his per attempt average with Lee's average from last year, right? Actually, Jefferson is .01 higher...but that's getting ridiculous.

I do think Lee averaged about a yard and a half or so on each actual completion. The longest pass that Lee had last year was a 66-yard screen to Keiland Williams against Georgia in game #7. It wasn't an actual long pass. Other than that, his longest completion was 43 yards against State in game #4.

Jefferson had a 45-yarder in the first game and a 58-yarder last game (along with a 40 and a 39-yarder last week). So there isn't much difference as far as long passes go. I think there is a little memory failure going around.

^ excellent post. Anyone who watched Jordan's high school footage knows he can throw it at least 55-60 yards. But when I watched Lee's highlights and our games last year I saw a lot of roll outs and short passes designed to get people moving in space. It was something I would expect to see from a University of Houston or Texas Tech QB, not a triggerman of the play action passing games of the SEC.

Excuse me if I think Lee's arm strength compared to Jefferson's is being a bit overstated. Jefferson has quite the arm and is starting to get a feel for how to use it. Let's just our starter continue to play and stop worrying about who's on the bench.

That doesn't really mean anything in terms of actual arm strength. Any QB that gets snaps at this level should have at least the ability to make those types of passes (Andrew Hatch notwithstanding). Lee puts a little more zip and touch on the ball with a heck of a lot less arm movement than Jefferson.
Feel free to discuss whatever you please, bro. The rest of us will do the same.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not downplaying Jefferson's arm strength. He's obviously got a pretty good one. I just think that a lot of people don't realize how good Jarrett Lee's is.
