I would just like to see a well coached, disciplined, high motor team. A well oiled machine that is sound in three phases. I would like to know that the players who give 100% effort on the field, would not have to worry about the coach making a boneheaded decision to screw it up and cost the team a game. I would like to see LSU with a coach who does not throw in the towel in a game..period. One that is capable of making adjustments in-game or between halves to keep his team competitive. If top talent is recruited, it would be nice to see that talent used in the best way possible on the field. Lastly, a coach is the face of the program, and a representative of the university. It would be nice to have a coach who doesn't make himself look like a jackass on national tv.
He's a big part of the reason we're on TV so much. Y'know, on account of the winning. This is more like it:
Way too many factors at play to set a standard. You have to look at the general trend. Right now we don't have a trend either way. We had a single down year in 2008 then improved from 2009 to 2011. 2012 was a small step back from 2011, but much more like 2010 than 2008. Let's see how we finish out this year. We could still win 10 games and finish in the top 10-12 range.
All of this is true. I guess we'll know if they team has mailed it in as much as the fans after the A & M game next Saturday. If they come out fighting and win out, I'm not nearly as concerned. If they quit on the season, that is a serious problem.
Since 2009, 1 loss per. On the verge of winning the 4th national championship in 5 seasons. I don't know how much more you can define success by. If they win it all this year, it will be unprecedented success in college football history. I mean that's the absolute pinnacle of all times.
I voted two being the most you should ever lose in a season, given the talent level to go with the current OC/DC. So this year is unacceptable and an absolute failure on Les Miles' part.
