I'm sure Lee and Mett both are getting extended reps now, but Lee is the projected #2, so I'd say it's normal.

He needs to start fine-tuning his First Team: Reps, comfort level, synchronization. Some pieces may be missing, and plan "B" needs to be set in place.

I wonder if coach has thought about this?

Coach wants the team to get back to some degree of normalcy. He spoke yesterday about praticing and implementing a game week schedule. He also spoke of his players knowing how this works. He has to try and get the team beyond this. I'm sure by practicing as if nothing happened it helps the team focus on the upcoming game, all the while getting jj his reps and jl his. Even if jj doesn't play, his practicing as normal will help keep jj's head together. If miles booted him off the team right now who knows if jj would be able to handle it emotionally. If jj doesn't play ,but practices with the team, miles may be able to keep this young man from melting down. Jj just started a new year at school. Miles is trying to help jj get through this, as he is with the other three players. Throwing these kids out on their arse now would destroy them. Who knows what would happen. Not to be too dramatic but who knows where these kids are psychologically. You do not want to make it worse for the kids. The best thing for them is to practice with their team. Plus if miles let the four of them go the rest of the team may be disheartened. Team continuity would compromised. And lastly, those four have a hell of a lot more laps to run before they pay miles his " were running them, were going to keep running them" stupdity fee. As I see it these kids being with their team is good for them. Miles already knows who he is playing, when he is telling them and exactly how he is going to turn this game plan into the winning formula to pluck a duck.

That's my biggest problem with JJ. He's supposed to be a leader of the team, his coach has stuck behind him (at times to great ridicule) and he gets involved in this, casting a pall over the whole team. A team that could contend for the National Championship.

I'm assuming he's referring to the article I read earlier today that spoke briefly as to which QB should Miles be giving the most attention to in terms of practice reps and gameplan with.

Yes, you need to prepare your starter and the backup (and to an extent, the 3rd string), but the reality is that during any gameweek, the starter usually gets the majority of the reps with the "back up" receiving the next most amount of instruction and then the 3rd string.

Every back up needs to prepare like he's the starter because of injury, etc. But in our situation, Lee and Jefferson offer pretty different skill sets to the offense. Specifically JJ's ability to gain chunks of yards on the ground via designed QB draws, etc.

The only way I see our current situation affecting us differently than normal, is that I would simply say that the usually scripted opening offensive possession not include QB draws if JJ ends up being suspended, etc. Beyond the initial opening drives to either start the game or the 2nd half, each QB reguardless of who's under center, is simply executing any play from the playbook that the OC is calling. By that I mean, if the gameplan vs certain teams is to use more designed QB runs because JJ is your starter, so you script the first 10-15 plays to set your offense up to utilize that aspect. But you wouldn't want to do that (script plays to either use or set up a QB draw if Lee or Mettenberger are you QB's).

At some point (soon), Miles should dismiss "happenstance"; the team needs to define itself, and go forward.
Hoping that crisis will go away by kick-off keeps the team in disunity.

Just checked THE ADVOCATE. East's column pretty much reflects my view.

i have full faith that miles is proceeding in a way that is best for the team.

and if he prefers to be guarded in releasing information about how he is proceeding, that is just fine. it keeps oregon wondering and from being able to fully prepare. if it ruffles the tail feathers of a few fans, so be it.

This…there is no way Miles doesn’t know exactly what he is planning to do. Why should he tell the public what he plans..keep them guessing.

I suspect Les has a plan A, a plan B, and a plan M. I seriously doubt if he tells anyone who is starting until Friday before the game. I know he won't be discussing which plan he'll use.

But I bet we don't practice a lot of quarterback draws this week.
