I have to believe that Slive has a 14th team in mind (probably a 15th & 16th as well), but without that coming to fruition before A&M joins us, what will that do from a scheduling perspective for all sports? The SEC created the current model with two divisions. Now we are confronted with a challenge. Do we abandon the two divisions and go with a single 13 team conference for a year? Do we have uneven divisions giving the West a disadvantage over the East? And what will happen from a scheduling perspective? Will we have to play everyone in the lopsided SEC West? Will we now rotate through our own division and the SEC East? Slive says he has a plan to make it work. I would love to at least get an idea of what he is thinking about.
See the Vandy is good for something thread for a possible answer. Mod: these threads could be merged, thanks
It was brought up on sports radio just a bit ago that the SEC By-Laws state that there *must* be an 'even' number of teams for a Championship Game to be played for the conference. So does this mean that next year with aTm making it '13' there won't be a conference champion???? So they go with best w/l stats to determine #1 in the conference and for a BCS berth?
We currently have an even number of teams. Alabama - 1 Arkansas - 2 Auburn - 3 Florida - 4 Georgia - 5 Kentucky - 6 LSU - 7 MSU - 8 South Carolina - 9 Tennessee - 10 Texas A&M - 11 Vanderbilt - 11 1/2 Ole Miss -12 lefire:
