He's not coaching to win the SEC. He's searching; experimenting. He'll pull a proven commodity to bring in a youngster with a 9.00 ERA to see what they can do in a game situation and to, perhaps, build up their confidence. He's coaching for the future and to see who wants to play his style of baseball. He's seperating the wheat from the chaff. We just need to be patient. Manieri is a proven winner and he will win here.
trust me, hes trying to win now. this is due more to pitch counts with mainieiri. doesnt play situational ball like most think. he felt he had that with this group but is now pressing and is alienating a couple of guys in the process. fine by me if you're winning. i just hope he doesnt burn too many bridges with the jared mitchell's/chris mcghee's of the world. he needs to separate his desire to win for the good of the team sometimes. they are playing on pins and needles which is never a formula to winning.
So, I take it you disagree with my insightful post. Separate is one of those words that always gives me trouble. It just doesn't look right to me.
yes as much as id like to play the skip bertman experiment card here, i cannot. that's why im god of tigerforums. i'm here for you.
I read Nutriaitch and Tirk's first posts supporting our LSU baseball coach and that was all I had to see (I just skipped the rest of the thread). Despite my philosophical disagreements with Nootch and Tirk, I have honestly been impressed with their knowledge and love of LSU baseball, and I bow to their opinions because I believe they know and love LSU baseball better than I do.
now you're learning. most here do this already. they just scan for my opinion realizing the rest is fluff. i couldnt have said it any better myself. minus the nootch part.
Asking the question in the title to this thread is really jumping the gun. LSU Baseball had fallen a long way when Coach Mainieri was hired. I’m no expert, but my untrained opinion is the problems started in Skip’s last year or so. Don’t know the reason, and there is no point in digging into it now. The program continued to digress during Smoke’s time as HC. Rebuilding this program to its former level is going to take some time and some faith in Coach Mainieri. Getting the no. 1 recruiting class and actually evaluating the talent to make sure we get some good players in school rather than going pro right out of high school was a really big step. Give the man and his staff some time. :tigbas::tigbas::tigbas::tigbas::tigbas: :crystal::crystal:
I thought this was a thread about the baseball coach's sexy caboose. He doesn't really do it for me in that regard, but we can't be talking about firing the guy, can we?
