with notre lame's throttling of HAwaii and all of their recruiting, heismans and natioanl championships, i expect them to be top 10 for 09- NOT! we should be about 12-14 or so and move up to about 5 ish- in time to make the sugar bowl or even higher and go to BCS
Looks like many on here are not impressed with an AJC writer having us at #6 and Lee Corso, of all people, having us at #4.
I've been saying 15-20 since Arky. ...will not matter in the end. This team will dominate. :geauxtige
They're separating themselves from the herd by taking a risk. I think they're more right than wrong, but I don't see the big polls doing the same thing.
For our biggest competition in the West, they had: 4. Alabama (12-2): There is some work to do because All-America Andre Smith and All-SEC Antoine Caldwell leave the offensive line. QB John Parker Wilson will be replaced by Greg McElroy or highly-touted recruit Star Jackson, who will give the Crimson Tide some athleticism at the position. The defense will be the backbone of the team, especially if NT Terrence Cody comes back. 16. Ole Miss (9-4): The Rebels were the most improved team in the SEC in their first year under coach Houston Nutt. With 17 starters returning, including QB Jevan Snead and all-purpose RB Dexter McCluster, Ole Miss will challenge Alabama and LSU in the SEC West.
From ESPN's Schlabach 9. LSU Tigers Freshman quarterback Jordan Jefferson's performance in LSU's 38-3 win over Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl gives the Tigers plenty of hope for 2009. Inconsistent quarterback play and a surprisingly porous defense were LSU's biggest deficiencies in 2008. Former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis should shore up the defense, which must replace its entire defensive line and middle linebacker Darry Beckwith.
