Just finished watching the few highlights that were the career of Cecil Collins. Good god I remember watching and knowing he was good but when I see those old games against Auburn and State I don't know if we have ever had a back as good as he was. And that is saying something cuz we have had some good ones. But it also speaks volumes to even consider him in that echelon considering he never even played a full season. Was he a complete disaster and embarrassment afterwards? Yep. But man could he run the ball. Ran angry.
The point of the OP was to evaluate the Diesel's football ability, not his moral failings. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6mpmox6gx8&feature=related]YouTube - Cecil Collins 1997 LSU Highlights‏[/ame]
He ran for 3,045 yards and 40 TDs in his senior year of high school. What he did on the field in his short time at LSU was simply incredible and had he not been a degenerate, he would've been one of the all time greats. Unfortunately, you can't talk about his accomplishments without talking about his 'moral failings'.
Just a better version - yep he might have been that good but we will never ever know !!!! Emmitt was not only good but always did the right thing !
