To be a successful, vice mediocre, season, LSU football needs to: (you can make multiple choices)

  1. Have nine or more wins

    30.0%
  2. Win the SEC West

    39 vote(s)
    65.0%
  3. Win the SEC

    12 vote(s)
    20.0%
  4. Win a Nat'l Champ

    4 vote(s)
    6.7%
  5. And another thing: playing in at least one Nat'l Champ Game every four years is expected.

Look, if 9-3 still wins the West, then wonderful. I will take it. Great Job, but if it doesn't, sorry, not good enough.

9-3 seasons won't get a coach fired, but it isn't good enough for what we have become. LSU and it's fans want to be in contention for the SECw every year and be a name mentioned as being in competition for the MNC. This isn't unrealistic. What is unrealistic is thinking that at 9-3 we suck and that the coaches need to go. When you think about it, if we can get to a 9-3 season and can push 2 of the top teams in the country to the limit, when we aren't even playing our best, then overall the players and coaches did a pretty good job of not having things be worse. Yes no one is impressed by barely beating the likes of LaTech, or having to beat Miss St with a goal line stand, or the time clock f'up at the end of the Ole Miss game, but somehow we still ended up 9-3 with all the problems that we did have.

This gives me great excitement of what will be next season when Miles and his coaches fix some of the problems that held us back this year. Miles has proven time and again he learns from his mistakes. I think that he will have a greater desire to succeed next season, and we will see our Tigers competing at the level we all want.:geaux:

What I expect year in and year out is LSU in the running for the SEC title and in the mix for the national championship. I don't expect 0-6 vs. UF, Bama, Ole Miss. LSU has everything in place to be a consistent national championship contender every year. I expect excellence every year and are forced to deal with the shortcomings. I don't expect mediocrity.

First and foremost, I want, no I EXPECT to have my Tiger team play up to their potential. I don't want our players to be let down repeatedly by game mismanagement boneheadedness from our coaching staff. I want, no I EXPECT for our players to give 100% through good times and bad and show some character. When we take the field with a team as talented as the one on he other side of the field, I expect to be competitive in the game. I expect us to win more of those than we lose. I expect to "steal" a game every so often from a more talented team. I expect to lose one we should have won every now and again. I expect the team to be in a position to compete for the SEC title every season barring catastrophic circumstances like a ton of injuries at key positions. I am not saying that I expect the Tigers to win the conference every year. I'm saying that they should be in a position to. Some years an 11-1 season might not even be good enough to win the West - it wouldn't have been this past season. But I'd have been completely satisfied with that if our only loss was to 'Bama this year because they showed that they were just plain better than us overall. But as long as the team is playing as well as they have the talent to play, I can be satisfied with the results and understand that sometimes occasionally we will lose one we should have won. Occasionally. If that starts to be customary rather than an aberration, then they're not meeting my expectations.
