He says that he doesn't even know that he's doing it. Nervous habit. Oddly enough, though, I saw Mettenberger do the exact same thing against NW St. Guess he's trying to be just like Lee. :hihi: That's what we're supposed to think, but we have run the play-action out of it before.
That's awesome, particularly coming from a former standout SEC QB. Palmer loooooves him some LSU. Doesn't need to. We've got a great running game and defense. If he was throwing for 400yds/gm, we'd be in deep doo-doo.
He sure doesn’t. LSU is fine just the way they are. Great Defense, Great Special teams, short fields and execute perfectly on at least 5 offensive drives putting up 5 to 6 TD's game Palmer does love LSU. He is the only analyst who keeps it real "All The Time" He doesn’t care about flashy offenses with highlight reels.
So many people don't take into account the fact that Miles is playing a chess match the entire season. It's not just about beating the team you're playing, it's about tricking other teams when you NEED a big play. We all know other teams study footage. So how do you run a trick on a team like Bama who's going to be breaking down frame by frame footage on LSU's offense? You have to do fake tells, Lee puts his hand behind his back on almost every run attempt. Depending on which side of the field the run will be going is which hand Lee puts behind his back. But, one day when LSU needs a big play he's going to put his hand behind is back like normal and completely shock everyone with the play call. It's the same reason Miles called the fake kickoff. Forces other coordinators to have to game plan for a possible fake kick. When you're going up against an equal team that plays sound football just like you do it becomes a head game of who can outsmart who.
We also have to remember that his competition has been much stiffer than anyone he's being compared to. His performance thus far this season has been nothing short of extraordinary. I'm happy for him.
Like the play-action pass to ODB on 3rd and 1! That was frickin' badass, and now EVERY team that we face has something to think about when we're in that down & distance.
