He's 42nd in the nation in QB rating. Had Randle caught the TD in the endzone, Lee would be 30th in QB rating, ahead of notables like Tyler Wilson, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley and Geno Smith and 3rd overall in the SEC behind only Bray and Murray. He would essentially have the same QB rating as Drew Brees does for the Saints this season through 3 games as well as Brees' entire SB winning 2009 season (109.4). His 145 QB rating is 20 points higher than that of Matt Flynn during the 07 season. Adding on Mett's stats (which would probably have been Lee's stats for the most part had he played instead), we get the cumulative: 64-98 716 yards, 7 TDs, 1 Int = 148.2 rating (35th nationally)
I really hope he keeps this up. 6 TD's and 1 INT through 4 games. He's on track for 24 TD's and 4 INTs for the year. I could SOOOOOO live with those numbers.
One-dimensional teams don't often contend for titles. (SEE: WVU) Lee is doing well. I hated last season when JJ had a TD drought of 6-7 games. I don't like when they stack the line and force us to throw. Lee has been getting comfortable and is confident he can throw it over the top when needed. Hopefully he'll continue to progress. You knew what you were going to get from JJ. It wasn't going to change. His first (Chick-fil-A Bowl) and last (Cotton Bowl) games were his best but we had a lot of time to prepare for both of those. All the starts (27, 28?) didn't seeem to help him progress. Lee saved the day against Tenn, Florida, and Alabama last year. He has two young WRs who know one QB...Lee. They're starting to get comfortable with each other and the rhythm is starting to show. I believe Lee has much more potential than JJ and it's starting to surface. Hopefully the O-line and RBs will continue to produce so Lee can just be concerned with managing the game and not be forced to win it.
great info thanks for that what a great kid our QB is - he is battle tested and ready and his team has his back !! love it
Thanks to coach K , he seems comfortable and confident in reading defenses. That is huge. His dedication (e.g. losing weight, and continuing on the study of the game) is also paying off. He seemed more agile when he broke off to the right in that TD play to Clement in the WVU game. You can also see the confidence in his eyes when he comes up to the line and survey the defense before the play. Geaux Lee! Geaux Tigers!
Lee made some amazing throws against WVU. The TD that Randle caught was pinpoint. The DB had him covered, but had his back to the ball. Lee threw it just to the outside of the DBs waist, to where only Randle could catch it. Wicked throw. The TD that Randle dropped was also an excellent throw. Lee placed it perfectly. The TD pass to Clement in the EZ was just silly. Heavy traffic, dudes flying everywhere, Chase falling to the ground. . .Lee drops it in on a dime, just above Clements hands, which were on the ground. Wicked throw. The play-action pass on 3rd and 1 was absolutely perfect execution. He sold the play-fake really well, obviously, because the entire defense bit on it. The throw was a little high, but still to where ODB didn't have to break stride on it. Much of the credit goes to the WR, but Lee gets major props for execution. WVU came into the game thinking run, run, run. And what did we do? Pass, pass, pass, and we did it damn well. His confidence is skyrocketing, and the rest of the offense is feeding off of it. He's got the experience, the leadership, and the touch to lead the Tigers to the promised land. The great part is that he's only getting better with each game. Even Herbie was all over his jock during the game.
