I dont. I think Shepard will have a very good year and be one of the key players that gets LSU back to 10 win seasons. There are a number of guys I am looking for next year to step up and take lead of this LSU team. I have no doubt that our D will be better than last year and give LSU a shot to win every game. Some might say we will always lose to Bama / UF b/c of coaching, but I think all that is crap. If Saban and Myer's coaching was so ahead of Miles, then Saban and Myer have some serious flaws to let MIles and his crappy no skill coaching hang in there and keep the game close or even let Miles take the lead for much of the Bama game. :LSU231:
Well we know for sure Miles has a wanting to get him those touches. It's just that the right situations, whatever those are, never came up.
To be effective, Shep needs to be an integrated part of the offense, not a gimmick. If he's not going to be allowed to throw the football ever, then the WildTiger isn't going to be effective 8/10 times. I think he's a great Percy Harvin kind of hybrid back, particularly if he beefs up just a bit more. I think that's where we'll see him. FWIW: I don't think he was used as much this season because they tried to make him a QB, RB and WR all at the same time. So he wasn't great at ANY of it by the end of the season. Contrary to some opinions, LSU's playbook is complicated. And QB alone would be a lot to internalize. Adding WR and RB to that, even just a few plays? Too much.
There is no legit excuse why he never got the touches. Saying he wants to get Shepard the touches and doing them are two different things. We also heard we will see a much better O, we never did. The year before it was the same thing with the D. With the loss of a lot of SR who were major parts of the O, Id expect to see Shepards touches increase, but to what extent we shall see.
So not knowing the plays and changing positions in mid-season are not legit reasons for Shepard not playing? It's legot for the other players on the roster? Why is Shepard different?
