So let's take this scenario. How is he going to know if you have the money? How can he search without a warrant? Under what grounds would he obtain the warrant? Last I checked they can't just get one "because"... I would not be worried about drug dogs, all my registration and insurance stuff is tight. This dick has no probable cause. I've watched enough Matlock to rip him a new ass in court. Sorry @wjray wouldn't need you on this one.
Most people who don't have anything allow a search to rub it in their faces. I know I have. And a lot of times people think and rightfully so, that having cash isn't a crime. I have a friend who lost his home and stayed with his cousin who was a big tweaker. House got raided, they found meth on the cousin, all my buddy's musical equipment seized, along with the money he was saving to rent a place.
How do you know they won't plant something on you when their search comes up empty? Whether I have anything or not if they want to search my vehicle they have to get a warrant.
And I would demand to know under what grounds they are obtaining said warrant. What do they think I'm guilty of? Being better looking than most is not a crime or an indication of wrong doing.
Never ever give police permission to search your car. You surrender about a dozen rights when you do. If they search it anyway, anything they find is inadmissible. If they have to call a judge and jump through the hoops for a warrant, then make them do it. Sometimes they know they won't get a warrant so they try to intimidate you into giving permission. Don't do it. They can plant dope in your car. There are no circumstances where you are better off by letting them search although they will tell you all kinds of shit to make you think so. Make them work. Ruin their afternoon. Once you surrender that right, they can can drag everything out of your car and spread it out over the shoulder and they don't have to put it back. They can keep you there for hours and hours. They can tow your car away to an impound yard and disassemble it with electric screwdrivers and put it back together with their fingers. You have surrendered all your rights if you allow them to search.
I wouldn't now, but when I was younger and my hair was longer and I was pulled over because of my pink Floyd sticker and I knew nothing was in my car, I would let them just and smile, but.... Now no way no how never ever. Bring the dogs do what you gotta do you ain't getting in my car copper.
What I find hard to believe is the people who do have drugs in their car and still give the cops permission to search. If you make the cops go through all the motions to get a warrant they could make a mistake that would lead to the case being thrown out of court
Because cops will lie to you and say they will let you go, or say if we get dogs and we find something we will seize your vehicle, then they find it and seize it anyway. Cops suck.
