I have never "accused" you of being a Democrat or even a "lib". I address points of view, not some stupid political party affiliation. And I tend to think that people seeing what they want to see will trump a duck every time.

Most American families are much more diverse than they used to be; not just in race/ethnicity but in terms of sexuality and religion. My question is why the Republican party isn't more reflective of that diversity? I hear what you guys are saying when you say that your families are diverse and I do not disbelieve you, but what I can't get is why the Republican party does so little to reach out to those groups? IMO hispanics, who are largely catholic and very family orientied, are ready-made Republican voters if the party doesn't allow a narrow group to prevent immigration reform for so long that it can only be done through executive order. Why? Ideological purity? We're past the point of sending them all home so why not make reforms? I just don't get it. Why aren't Republicans reaching out to the AA community in a more pointed way? Why have they had little to no representation among their leaders in Washington?

Going back to our discussion on economic legislation you presented a few quotes from people who were expressing opinions. I cannot accept someone else's opinion as factual reason to accept your point of view. I have clarified for you the budget proces and how economic legislation is scored and explained why establishing economic baselines is so vital. How have you presented facts and I haven't again?

I'll stand corrected on Tim Scott even though he was appointed and not elected during the time frame to which I was referring. That said, I am also talking about all of congress, not just the Senate, so your figure of two democrats is incorrect. I don't have the number in front of me but it is well over 50. Race isn't a party line issue as far as I am concerned. When you put all your eggs in the white folks category every election and never court hispanics or african americans what do you expect people to think?

Will you shut up already about race?

"Also making history is Mia Love, 38, whose election to a suburban Salt Lake City district made her the first black female Republican to win a seat in Congress."

Paint the entire picture. Doesn't look like a "republican" problem to me. Rather a "see what you want to see problem".

When I lived in Utah, there was one black guy in the whole county. With a 2% black population in Utah, you can be sure that this representative doesn't have a poor constituency, a black constituency, or a black agenda.
