The Saudi government does not fund ISIS. ISIS is a huge threat to them because they want the holy cities to be part of the Islamic Caliphate. The problem is a large number of over-rich and under-educated Saudi individuals (like bin Ladin) who spent a ton of private money funding religious schools that teach radical jihadism. These Wahhabi schools have spread all over the middle east. A new generation of Saudi kings are taking over from the aged sons of Saud. Despite the years that have been spent buttressing the status quo, King Salman and Crown Prince Muqrin should cut off private funding for jihadis and rein in Wahhabi ideologues or the future looks bleak for Saudi Arabia. They have feared Iran for all these decades but their fall will more likely come from within and a new Wahhabi Caliphate will take over Mecca and Medina whether ISIS survives or not. Then we will have to take over the former Saudi oil fields for whatever new puppet Gulf sheikdom that we control to keep Iran from taking them.
