my father just called me with a "what the hell? you didnt tell me they were playing a bowl game in the louisiana swamps." he was floored that a field would be that bad.
I would HOPE that the NCAA would require that POS field comverted to field turf by next year. If we lose a player as Miami did the entire bowl is a lost cause. Based on this first half, it's time to turn to next year and the next QB.:geaux:
i would hope the conference commissioners would put pressure on this bowl committee. this is inexcusable and piss poor planning.

It may anyway but at least they'll know how we feel.
A major bowl organization that lets the city put high school games above it's premier January Bowl game needs to find a new stadium or tell Orlando to find the high schools a new stadium.
The citrus bowl is a minor league facility---they probably laid that sod the day before the game, producing that unplayable field. The people in charge of the field conditions should be fired.
The field system that Virginia Tech has at their stadium is awesome. The same system was used in the Bejing Olympic stadium. Basically, it is a series of squares that allow stadiums to grow the field off site and bad sections can removed and re-inserted with forklifts. Drainage is amazing and this system could be used for stadiums like the Super Dome where a natural grass playing surface can be grown outdoors and then assembled inside the dome a few days before a game. There are links to some slide shows that illustrate the benefits of this system here: GreenTech ITMâ„¢
The field conditions were completely unacceptable! The shuttle bus fiasco leaving the stadium was unacceptable! The additional seats added revenue but no other modifications were made for the fans. The area around the stadium is still a dump. I love Orlando but was even less impressed with the stadium experience than the last time I was here. The SEC needs to demand a better field or find another bowl.
Guys, the conditions of the field were bad, but we can't blame everything on it. Penn State won the game on that field, so I can't lay it all on the mud pit.
